What a view from the cable car, fantastic pictures (y)

Sounds like a great performance all round and Zurich possibly a better connection option than some larger hubs?

So, from landing just before 8.15, i was home by 9.30, and that was getting the bus to the offsite parking in Coleshill ( through the B'ham business park rush hour ), picked up the car and drove to just south of Swadlincote where we live

We're close neighbours as I live in Moira (y)

(y) we are Coton in the Elms, Sheldon ex pat. Whenever we go to the Smisby Arms we sometimes go through Moira. If you have not been to the Smisby Arms, worth a trip for the food. It is run by another Sheldon ex pat Blues fan as well (y)

Have never been to the Smisby Arms despite living in this area for over 20 years but will certainly check it out now.

Thanks Ray. I have used the bigger hubs in the past, CDG, AMS, FRA and had an OK experience, but after using Zurich in the past year, it is so well organised, quite compact, and the transit times are great, much better than the bigger hubs. Also found all of the ground crew and FA's so nice and customer focused it is such a change to some airlines who these days don't seem to know what customer service is. Jet2 being the one obvious exception.

Those pics are awesome mate, thanks for sharing. HKG looks like a massive airport especially now it has been extended further. Hopefully we will see Cathay Pacific or Hong Kong Airlines at BHX one day.
No worries BrumX. Hong Kong Airlines would be great, and I think they would be a perfect fit for BHX.

We did not take too many actually Brum X, but here are a few from the cable car and one from the hotel room. They are not that good due to being taken through the cable car glass and the distance. It was a fantastic view though !! The road bridge in the foreground is the new road bridge to Macau. At the top of the pic, you just might be able to make out the equipment in the bay that is working on the land reclamation for the new terminal and runway.

Awesome photographs!

Many thanks.

Kevin

Just booked Puerto Mogan again for September with the dreaded Ryanair (price ) hope MOL doesn't choose then to carry out his threat to ground them at that time, can't make my mind up if he is an idiot or some sort of genius probably the latter given the record.

Lovely place to go. Been a few times, the last at a place second line in the port. 60 seconds stroll from the beach and 60 seconds stroll from the port.

Yes Jon it is a lovely place about 5 miles southfrom Puerto Rico but a million miles away in ambience and attitude weve gone a couple of times a year for the at least the last 10 years or so.

Wife has just booked a long weekend in Barcelona with her friends for a 60th birthday she doesn't know who she's flying with but it's in June and as their is a dozen of them a flight to avoid!

Arrived on the lunchtime Emirates yesterday. I didn't walk around the aircraft but the part of the cabin I was in was full. Overheard people saying they had connected from Bangkok, Bangladesh, Brisbane and Auckland.

Took 40 minutes from touchdown to the car which I thought was pretty good. Immigration there was quite a queue for but it was constantly moving so didn't take more than 10 minutes to pass through.

The big let down was baggage reclaim. By the time I got there it was moving and bags were coming off (though nobody seemed to be collecting them). Mine luckily arrived within about 10 minutes or so, but there was still a large crowd of people waiting to collect bags so I don't know how much longer it took. BHX has invested largely in departures but they are rather lacking in arrivals. Whilst the departure lounge (certainly the international pier) is fairly clean and modern, baggage reclaim looked more like it belonged in a third world country - it didn't look like it had changed since 20/30 years ago. The whole time the baggage carousel was running there was a very loud screeching sound coming from it - so loud you couldn't here an announcement saying some bags were coming off a different carousel! There were boards up around one of the carousels so I don't know if they are replacing them.

Other than that, whilst by no means was it an amazing experience, it wasn't a bad one either.

Some other observations:

Spotted the Monarch/Thomas Cook hybrid A320/1 - seemed very strange seeing an aircraft even partly painted in Monarch colours!

A Titan airways A320 landed just before - don't know which airline it was operating for.

Near the remote stands (the fire station side of the terminal) there was a pile of something (didn't look like soil) but there wasn't anywhere obvious it had been dug up from or somewhere for it to go. Anyone have any ideas/insight?

Have a great time. I always enjoy Amsterdam and the surrounding area. You timed it right as you will have missed the behaviour of some of the England so-called football supporters of the past couple of days.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
