If I was LBA managerment i'ld have both slices of the pie. I think Easyjet to Belfast Int'l would work even if Aer Lingus take on the Belfast City route.

I'm fairly sure airport bosses don't decide, or choose which airlines can operate any individual route. If Easyjet are serious about operating Belfast - Leeds they will still come.

Very interesting to think Aer Lingus have decided to give the route a blast (if this gets confirmed?). I do think they are more than capable of pulling the route off but I also think having easyJet would also be a good factor for the airport.

It begs the question (since easyJet have applied for slots) if they could work in unison? Where one airline operates BHD and the other BFS. Interested to see what comes of this.

They have tried Cork before and it didn't work. So not sure they will be rushing back on that route. One step at a time and let's hope we get BHD first

Aer Lingus Regional have further pushed back by 3 weeks the restart of the Dublin - Leeds/Bradford route from August 1st to August 21st.

I totally understand why this decision has been made what with no one wanting to travel onwards to USA (due Trump) and the Irish Republic Government not dropping the 14 quarantine rule.
