Also going Dublin & Aer Lingus is so much easier with its Pre Clearance (USCBP) facility, The major benefit is that having cleared USCBP outbound in Dublin, when you arrive in the US you are treated as domestic arrival, allowing you to avoid the immigration queues upon arrival.

A lot easier than going direct from Manchester or using the ex British Airways service via London Heathrow.

Flew last year from LBA to JFK with Aer Lingus through Dublin with through luggage and pre clearance and would recommend this to anyone. Ok, it might be a little bit more expensive but you save so much hassle and at JFK walk straight out of the plane, through the mall and onto the Air Train or a taxi. Also, whilst waiting for your connection, Dublin is a really nice airport and the facilities really show up LBA.

Flew last year from LBA to JFK with Aer Lingus through Dublin with through luggage and pre clearance and would recommend this to anyone.

I used them from Cardiff to Portland and my experience wasn't so good. I found the pre clearance thing a pain going through 2 security checkpoints and then both outbound and on the return which were via San Francisco and then LAX they lost my luggage.
If Dublin ever returns to Cardiff i might try them on a one stop itinerary and see if it's any better.
I will say though Aer lingus were great to fly with!

Can't remember what we got to eat but it started with a snack and drinks, then main meal, then another snack and drinks, all included in the ticket price. I ate and enjoyed all of the things served so no complaints about the food. Seats were comfortable and had built in audio/video so good choice of films or music and supplied with complimentary headsets. Friendly and attentive staff and a nice clean aircraft, A330. No negatives at all.

An interesting analysis of the new Aer Lingus Regional routes from BHD.

Come the week of 9 November, Aer Lingus Regional’s total offering from BHD will climb to 98 frequencies, down by 37% over the 155 flybe offered in the year-ago week.

The two largest markets – Manchester and Birmingham – have the biggest absolute falls, down 24 weekly and 15 weekly respectively. On a percentage basis, though, Leeds Bradford’s offering is down by more than one-third and Edinburgh’s by one-quarter.

Fingers crossed in that case for easyJet to launch a new route to BFS sooner rather than later!

What the article indicates is there is enough capacity to warrant a second service. A twice daily jet service would fit the bill, and yes, there are enough people flying. I seriously wouldn't fancy doing a ferry crossing on the Irish see, if I'm honest.

Ye of little faith. That's only due to the restrictions imposed by the UK government for overseas travel. Northern Ireland is part of the UK so no restrictions.

Me for another...6hrs plus in one of those face burning masks only to have to wear one in the street in intense heat...you must be bonkers to try that. Many though are staying at home and spending the money on house improvements. If you doubt that speak to the tradesmen, I have lately and they all tell the same tale. There must be something in it..

I can understand why some people are weary of flying because of covid.

The air conditioning units on aircraft are very different from those you would see in an office or on some trains. A typical office or train air conditioning unit just cools and recycle the air circulating and spreading the cool air. On an aircraft the air is not spread so widely and it is filtered down to micro particle sizes. This is a design feature.

If covid-19 is here to stay, at some point people will have to adjust and try to return to some kind of normality.

Staycations are in, and they are also super expensive as UK holiday firms up their prices due to supply and demand. It won't take long for people to say they've had enough. We've been reasonably lucky with the weather this year. A couple of drowned out summers and people will be back on the plane for sure.

Oh ye of little faith down here in the deep south (west Midlands) we have been wittering on for Easyjet services for years and slowly but surely now have Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh and winter ski flights plus Naples due to start next year after being put back by conavirus all away based so keep plugging away good things come to those that wait

There is a reasonable justification for the optimism regarding easyJet given they applied for slots to operate Belfast to Leeds with flight numbers and aircraft type . That suggests an intention. The question is when and whether they go off the idea before doing anything, particularly now Aer Lingus are flying from Belfast City.
Time will tell.

It appears that EasyJet did well with BFS routes to the UK even with Flybe in competition so it seems reasonable that they should seriously consider the BFS -LBA route. The NI to Yorkshire sector has always done well over many years and it would seem a logical move to open up a twice daily EasyJet BFS-LBA even with EI from BHD. If successful I could see a few more EasyJet routes to LBA, especially the likes of CDG, Madrid, Munich.
The new terminal will be a great boost to attracting these and other routes so badly needed. LCC must surely approve this development, Bradford, Harrogate,. York, Doncaster will be waiting with bated breath.......... it affects them.

With Leeds United now n the premier League get the timing right on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and we could see it well used by fans coming over from N.I. and may be the Republic depending where they live.

If easy did LBA-BFS you fly by jet but bfs is a lot further out of Belfast, quite a distance in fact from what I can remember but an aer lingus LBA-BHD is prop but bhd is right next to Belfast CC. Because of this I feel both services would do well, take your pick really! Belfast has always been successful with mixed passengers, business, tourists and those visiting family

Most airports and other crowded places attract those types. It's not an LBA trate.
