[textarea]BMI has no plans to axe Aberdeen flights

BMI said its decision to cut its Scottish services would not affect Aberdeen Airport, the Evening Express reports. The airline announced yesterday that it is 'suspending' flights between Glasgow and Heathrow from March 27.

The move means that ‘a number of employees’ are at risk of redundancy. BMI currently has 138 staff based at Glasgow Airport. However, a company spokeswoman tols the newspaper that there were no plans to axe any BMI flights from Aberdeen Airport.

Flybe Franchise Eastern Airways has confirmed that its flights between Aberdeen & Norwich which were previously operated using an aircraft leased from flybmi will continue to operate. Eastern Airways have sourced an alternative aircraft to continue operating the route as scheduled.
