Turkish fighting back against QR going daily and the imminent arrival of Etihad?

Turkish Airlines increases free baggage allowance from Edinburgh

Turkish Airlines has increased its free baggage allowance to economy and business class passengers travelling from Edinburgh airport.

Free baggage allowance in economy class will increase to 40kg and 50kg for business class passengers for routes from the Scottish capital to Asia, Middle East and Africa

Latest update from TK

Turkish Airlines in the past week filed European operation for the remainder of 2020. As of 02OCT20, planned operation, including Russia, for the period of 25OCT20 – 31DEC20 as follows.

Istanbul – Edinburgh 3 weekly 737-800

Something different for planespotters at Edinburgh!

Although not a direct route, Pakistan International Airlines have entered a code share agreement with TK, allowing pax from Pakistan to transit via IST to EDI. PIA have a turbulent past with safety licenses being revoked in recent times. Given the large Pakistani community in Scotland, this could be good news for EDI and TK.

TK appear to be operating EDI-Antalya direct for the next two Saturdays - 15 & 22 October. Using a 7M9. This in addition to their sister airline SunExpress. I assume demand must be very high for October sun breaks.

TK also using an A332 tomorrow on IST service. Economy full and only 2 J seats remaining. Good to see them doing well.

Turkish Airlines are proving more and more popular these days. I know many people are using Istanbul for onward connections as their preferred choice. I don't know if it's down to the Turkish product, the price of a ticket or the new airport facilities at Istanbul. They're doing something right.

They appear to be doing well. Along with QR, they are enjoying very high LF’s. Just shows you their is still demand for travel despite the financial woes around the world. Will EK return soon and grab a slice of the pie?

Living just 10 miles from EDI I am happy with QR and TK having used both airlines along EK I hope EK stay in GLA and forget Edinburgh as it is a nice balance. By the way I think Doh is a better transfer point Having use them all.

TK is increasing capacity for the next week. Starting tomorrow with an A333 scheduled. Sunday - 321 then 332’s Monday to Friday. Strong demand from China is the reported reason. Ms Sturgeon won’t be happy. Stand by for an attempt to curtail foreign travel to/from Scotland to suit her political agenda.

Easter

TK starting to make some changes to operating aircraft. 1st April, A333 replacing the standard 321. More changes likely.

Just as well she's leaving office then.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
