Think between Birmingham, DSA and Liverpool there is some scope for flights to more destination's in Eastern Europe when you look at things, Iasi is served from Liverpool but not Birmingham then DSA has a couple of routes that neither Birmingham or Liverpool have with Wizz not sure on other carriers however I would assume Wizz would be quite happy taking the other loco's on head to head on those routes from those two airports.

Unless Peel do things differently, airlines usually pay for a set number of desks/ If Wizz are paying for more desks it would usually indicate they are upping the number of flights. I wouldn't necessarily get your hope up though, with the current downturn in the industry, it could be just a case of the airport allowing airlines more use of it's underused resources to improve the passenger experience.

Wizz Air bolsters connections to eastern Europe

Wizz Air has restarted its London Luton flights to St Petersburg.
The carrier, which also recently took off for Moscow, thus become the only British airline offering a direct connection from the UK to the Russian city.
With the lifting of travel restrictions in Russia, UK passengers can once again visit the world-famous city and cultural capital of Russia, once dubbed the ‘window into Europe’.
Today, St Petersburg is brimming with iconic architecture, palaces and museums as well as a hipster restaurant and bar scene.
Owain Jones, managing director of Wizz Air UK, said: “We are proud to be the sole British carrier connecting the UK to St Petersburg, providing a genuinely affordable and unique travel opportunity to our UK customers.

Vilnius
At the same time, Wizz Air has also expanded its Lithuanian operations, adding one new Airbus A320ceo to its Vilnius base and five new routes.
These include two UK routes from Vilnius to Birmingham and Liverpool John Lennon, which will launch from October 22nd.
Wizz Air flights from Vilnius to Birmingham will operate three times a week and flights to Liverpool John Lennon will operate twice weekly.
Perfect for a weekend city break, Vilnius’ old city centre, cobbled streets and Baroque architecture paired with its up and coming nightlife scene, student population and hipster health food shops make for a truly unique experience.
George Michalopoulos, chief commercial officer at Wizz Air, said: “By introducing five new routes from Vilnius and two from Tallinn, we provide customers with opportunities to explore new cultures and cities.”

WIZZ will continue to operate Liverpool to Iasi throughout the winter period. It has been suggested elsewhere this route will finish on 25 Oct, however this is not the case. The service operates Monday and Friday.

Wizz will have 9 routes from LPL now including the 2 new ones. Would be great to see them add some non Eastern European services. Maybe Lisbon reinstated amongst others like Milan and Rome or Athens. Fingers crossed.

Apparently Wizz have purchased an A330 frieghter which they are operating on behalf of the Hungarian Government, so Ive read elsewhere.

Great to see Wizz add more routes and showing their confidence in Liverpool. Next move for them must be a based aircraft as you say.

Wizz Air has announced it is to add two more routes to its services for Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) passengers for the winter.
The low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe said it will add twice weekly flights to the Moldovan capital Chisinau and Romanian city Cluj for the winter.


The services to Chisinau are due to start at the end of October to Chisinau, with Liverpool becoming the only UK airport outside of London to serve the city.

Flights to the Romanian city of Cluj will be reintroduced - whilst flights to Iasi, also in Romania, will continue to operate through to the winter period too.
Wizz Air already operate to nine destinations from Liverpool.
Paul Winfield, director of aviation development for Liverpool John Lennon Airport said: “We are delighted to see Wizz Air continue to develop their business from Liverpool, creating opportunities for passengers from across the North West and North Wales to travel to a growing number of central and eastern European destinations.
