Summer 2020 update

Ryanair (FR) – There are a lot of changes however currently growth is +10% growth vs S19. The base stays at 12 based. New routes now held are Brest, Beauvais, Copenhagen, Kerry, La Rochelle and Pisa plus new continuations from W19 of Katowice, Milan Malpensa and Prague.

I'm puzzled how they are going to achieve that growth with still only 12 based. I wasn't aware of any slack on last summer's schedule.

The obvious answer would be more flights with away based a/c, but the 3 new routes announced today appear to be with MAN based.

An alternative is cuts on some routes to make room for the expansion on others.

Any other suggestions?

I can't find any flights for Brest or La Rochelle unless these are still to be announced.

According to my records since S19 we have lost LPA, HAM,PDL,FRA and Poitiers plus a large reduction on flights to BFS. We have gained for S20 BVA, KAT, MXP, PRG, PSA, KIR and CPH.

Compared to S19 there are 4 extra flights per week by based aircraft and 14 by non based. This year there are 366 flights per week and last year 348.

That as far as I can tell based on the current timetable considerably less that 10% increase. I wonder if the 10% increase related to 13 based aircraft which I think was at one stage proposed. Also I thought there were to be some Turkish routes.

No the 13th based aircraft has been excluded and I believe that would have been operating the Turkish routes for some of the time.

I understand the slots for the Turkish routes have been cancelled.

You've evidently done some good analysis. 366 weekly flights against 348 is just over 5% increase, not the 10% as you rightly say.
I'd forgotten about those German routes that ceased.

Whether this is the final picture for Ryanair remains to be seen.

The independent should be forced to change its name. The days when it was politically unbiased are long gone. This is a non story. Until Jan next year any UK citizen has these rights. After this they will either retain the rights or there will be mechanisms to allow work in the EU which will be reciprocated for EU workers in the UK. Either way airlines can recruit staff. Everybody knows this yet this article still gets debated by otherwise intelligent people who seem unwilling to accept the choice that’s been made with regard to EU membership.

The thing is how will Ryanair crew bases in the UK if the UK puts up visa requirements for EU residents? Will Ryanair suddenly cut the sizes of their bases maybe even operating solely from Europe into the UK? I very much doubt that. So in reality, UK bases should in effect be crewed by UK residing crew.

The Independent contradicts its own first sentence with these paragraphs that appear later in its report.

However, Ryanair insists British passport holders will continue to be eligible to work for the company whatever restrictions Brexit may place on their rights to work within the EU.

A spokesperson for the airline told The Independent: “Currently, we require all cabin crew applicants to have the unrestricted right to live and work in the EU. However, we will revise and update this requirement before the Brexit transition period ends on 31st December 2020.”

In truth no-one know what agreements will be reached between the UK and EU during the transition period. Until that outcome is known any debate is purely theoretical on a 'what if this?' or 'what if that?' basis.

Ryanair (FR)Some cancellations on DUB, GDN, FAO, GRO and SXF due to B737-MAX8, six flights per week on non-based aircraft.

So only until today Ryanair announce they will waive the change flight fee from today until 31st March.
I was booked on a Ryanair flight from Berlin on Sunday and yesterday opted to change the flight to august myself, as my previous twitter message to Ryanair was not answered.
Now I’ve asked them if they will refund me the £35/€35...hold my breath I will not!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
