Aren't Thomson changing there livery to TUI?

I recall reading somewhere that TUI are to withdraw the Thomson Brand together with ARKEFLY and other individual brands and simply have TUI emblazoned upon their air and water going fleets in order to simplify their business brand.

As for repainting aircraft in retro livery, maybe they can consider asking American Airlines as they have done the same with a few of their route specific aircraft I.e. PSA, EASTERN etc. TUI will own te Thomson name as I believe ORION!

Do you mean the livery in the first picture or the second? When I first flew with Britannia the livery was as in the first picture.

I meant to add that I prefer the second.
Although I still like the later colours for me the red and blue cheatlines livery will always be the classic Britannia colour scheme. By the way has anyone looked at the livery put on the first of the new 737s in 1969? Awful!

No. Have you got a link?

Many thanks. Haven't seen that before. I agree it's very ordinary to put it mildly.

How, I'd love to see that again. Not to mention, their enigmatic radio callsign 'Empress'!

I'd like to see the second one, to me it's the classic Britannia livery.

I don't remember the first one, does anyone know roughly when the livery changed?

That's something that I'd love to see (y)

I suppose it emanates from the Canadian Pacific ships many of which were called Empress of (Britain, Canada etc).

I remember seeing the Orion 737s when I paid a few visits to the new terminal, would have been around 85? Nice colour scheme especially as it contains brown which wouldn't be my first choice for an aircraft livery.
Quick question. I got the old jetstream radio out in the garden yesterday and after a bit of twiddling with the tuning wheel found a frequency which appeared to be handling airline traffic betweenaround 6 and 12 thousand ft and passing them on to Heathrow or Luton. Strange thing was I was able to receive both the aircraft and the controller. I am located in the village of Thurlaston near Rugby and the frequency was in the 130 range. Can't say exactly because the radio doesn't have a digital display. So any ideas what I was listening to?

I am not speaking gospel truth here but my memory suggests that following ATC transmissions, 'cleared' to Honily, Kingswood, Daventry etc., this being the short hand pre Digital era communication systems deployed at that time. My rudimentary airband capable radio picked this up frequently!! This was1990's and when CP Air and Wardair were welcome visitors to BHX

Have added a BMA DC9 and an Air Malawi VC10 to the collection. Actually missed the VC10 when it diverted into Birmingham in I think 76 but did see it at Heathrow a year later. That and the fact I got it for eight quid was good enough reason for getting it. The DC9 presented a dilemma as it's a very early aeroclassics model and to be honest has a number of faults but hasn't been made again since so I took the chance and bought it and to be fair if you don't look too closely is acceptable. I have also just bought my first wide body and again it's something I didn't see at Birmingham or anywhere else for that matter but it's in what I think is the iconic livery of a long defunct British airline. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
