I also had the Airfix BOAC concorde. It must have been tooled up before much information was available about the real aircraft as I seem to remember the nose in particular didn't bare much relation to the real thing. I can understand how you chipped the nose as it was quite delicate being covered with a blue transfer.

This was the model that my Dad built for me -

I realise that it was significantly different from the 'in service' aircraft, but in comparison to the prototypes, it doesn't fair too badly -

Obviously, the nose and visor was very much modified for the commercial aircraft, as was the rear fuselage section, which was lengthened.
If you want to re-live old times, I've seen an original Airfix Concorde (un-built) on E-Bay at 65 Euros :wideyed:

Dinky Boeing 737

Just wondering if anyone else had one of these -

I certainly remember having one, but cannot recall the colour scheme. I do recall that the cheatline and tail logo were stuck on paper and also remember the switch behind the wing, which would raise and lower the undercarriage.
Sadly, I also remember pushing mine off the coffee table (undercarriage down) as fast as I could expecting it to land smoothly. Result, one of the main gears broken off. I was very upset.

Never seen one of those before . Looks as if it's based on the series 100 737 of which I think lufthansa were the only operators. Did have a tornado and jaguar which had the retractable undercarriage actuated by a sliding switch on top of the fuselage.

I keep having flashbacks to May 22 2011.:nailbiting:

I was decorated and cutting in below the radiator when the final whistle went. I am decorating again next weekend. Maybe I shouldn't. Good performance yesterday. All they need to do next week is "build a wall, a great wall, gonna keep those Bristolians out, nasty people able to grab a goal, white lines and bring us down. Gotta build a wall. Bigly beautiful wall. Gonna get Blackburn or maybe Nottingham to pay for it. Make city great again. City first (or at least 21st). Fake news we are top of the league. Nasty media been against us. Keep on right."

Loving the West Midlands Bus :)
Thought I would get a bus for the cabinet as they played such a big part of my life before I was old enough for motorcycles/cars. Have only used the bus 4 or 5 times since and two of those were for nostalgia trips. Am afraid I'm old enough to remember the old staircase at the back buses with conductors which my mum used to take me on to Birmingham city centre to visit my aunt who worked in the toy department at the co op, I quite liked going to see my aunt! I can also remember the underpass at Yardley being built. looking from the top deck i was a bit alarmed at how far down it was .

Yes I do remember them. Don't ever remember any fare dodgers being apprehended though. Talking of policemen I can recall being caught playing on a building site when I was about 9 and absolutely crapping myself. I felt almost ashamed and was so relieved when he decided not to march me back home to my parents.

With conductors and inspectors fare dodging would not have been easy and if you held up the bus by arguing your fellow
passengers would soon tell you to get off. Not like today when they need to stop busses and do ticket inspections with a police presence.I'm like a lot of people with a choice and they are now unfortunately a last resort.

I can remember (just about), trolley buses running from Bloxwich to Walsall (I believe that Walsall was the last place in the country to operate trolley buses).

Two trolley buses shown at the main bus stop, High Street Bloxwich in 1969 (I would have been 5 at the time) -

If there were two trolley buses at the stop and the rear one needed to depart first, the pantograph (is that correct for trolley buses? I know it's the term for the overhead electrical pickup for trains) of the first bus had to be unhooked, using a long pole. Once the rear bus had move past, the first bus had to be re-connected to the overhead electric cables.

Do you remember the inspectors? In those days to us youngsters they were almost equivalent to policemen.
My how things change and what an impossible job that would be now.

We used to live in fear of the inspectors. Not that we ever used to try and get away without paying, it was just their authority that put the fear of God into us. Along with 'which pocket did I put my ticket in?'.
I can certainly remember people (usually young lads) being turfed off the bus by the inspector.

Was on a bus in San Francisco a few years ago when a policeman got on.First reaction was oh dear whats going on but
he sat down in front of us and was very friendly. He told us the Major had instructed the police to spend less time cruising in cars and start riding public transport more.Maybe our new Mayor might take note.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
