I wondered if anyone would notice that! :dirol:

Over the years I have seen Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, The Queen, various politicians and numerous football teams. Has anybody else bumped into a celebrity or well known person at the airport

[textarea]Potter star jets off from Leeds-Bradford

Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis, who plays Neville Longbottom in the smash hit films, flew from Leeds-Bradford Airport yesterday to give a talk to drama students.

Matthew, of Horsforth, flew to Jersey to give the presentation at a drama class.

Philip Meeson, chief executive of Leeds-Bradford Airport-based Jet2.com, said: “It’s a great honour to be transporting a Hollywood superstar on a Jet2.com flight.

“Matthew’s career is going from strength to strength. Jet2.com is proud to support a local star.”

I'm sure I've bumped into the guy before in Bar166 in Horsforth.

Quite probably.

My daughter is often down Town Street on an evening and she says she has seen him around a few times. He is from Horsforth and I believe he went to Horsforth School.

One of my kids met him in Horsforth Park shortly after the first film had been released, and when he said who he was, she didn't believe him and he apparantly got a bit upset about it, but my other half was there to keep things calm and I was told they had a nice long chat.

What it is to be elderly and in blissful ignorance of such people.

I did watch one Harry Potter film on DVD once in company with two of my grandchildren. I can't say I enjoyed it because I didn't.

I believe some of the films have used Gloucester Cathedral in my neck of the woods as a backdrop. I wonder if Mr Lewis has ever used my local airport at Bristol to get there. I may have passed him. Sadly, I wouldn't have recognised him if I did.

Off topic, but my main claim to airport celebrity spotting is passing Bjorn Borg the tennis player in a nearly deserted corridor at Munich Airport when he was at the top of the tennis tree - all on his own and very scruffily dressed. These days anyone in his position would probably be surrounded by minders.

It was him because being inquisitive I made it my business to ask the next member of staff I saw. Nowadays they probably wouldn't tell me - the god security.

OK, where do I start!!

I was also there when Nelson Mandella arrived on G-MLTI and parked on Stand 2.

I have also seen Mel Smith, Lucas Radebe, Billy Bremner, Allan Clarke and Mick Jones at LBA.

Eddie Gray also came into the Albert Inn in Yeadon a few years back.

I once sat talking to James Bolam in a GNER buffet car, and have also spoken to Derek Fowlds and Peter Davison on trains. I also once sat talking to Paddy Ashdown in the Preston station buffet.

The church I used to go to in Armley was once used to film Hallelujah. I went in one night and met Thora Hird, David Daker and Patsy Rowlands. I also used to play billiards with Stuart Gollard, who played George Ward (Gina's uncle) behind the bar in the early Heartbeat series.

I also once bumped into Antoine du Cone of Eurotrash fame at Paris Orly airport.

Best of all, I once sat in a bus shelter in Chelsea chatting with Donald Sinden.

Yesterday David O'Leary, an ex Leeds United manager passed through LBA on his way to BFS on the late 19.45 B733 service.

Scunthorpe United came through last Friday. They were on their way to Plymouth via Bristol.

I saw the entire Middlesbrough team come through arrivals last Summer off a Jet2 flight.

I didn't get a chance to see him but I was told that Lennox Lewis passed through the airport last weekend.

St Helens rugby club passed through the airport last week. I think they flew in on the Ryanair Girona?

I remember that, they had been to the Algarve on a pre season training camp!

Also, Claire King, better known as Kim Tate, often described as a soap 'super *****' often passes through LBA. I have spoken to her on many occasions, she's a very nice lady really.

Since leaving Emmerdale she played Karen Betts in Bad Girls, appeared in Doctors and Holby City, made a mark in rival soap Hollyoaks and was in an episode of The Royal.

Yeah I have to agree with you Aviador, I've had my photo taken with her and also got her autograph which she more than obligued to give. Very friendly lady indeed.

Yes, I saw them last year when they flew to Barcelona....then I've seen a few as they have been coming back whilst in baggage reclaim.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
