Yet more route duplication...albeit a series of "one off" Iceland holidays.

That was posted in mid-December in this thread, posts #249 and 250. The press release has taken a while to come out. I note other Jet2 airports have similar announcements, albeit the BRS one is modest compared with some.

TUI were going to do a winter season using their own aircraft to Keflavik (for Reykjavik) two or three years ago against easyJet. I can't remember whether they actually did. Nothing shown for TUI this winter or next.

easyJet's winter season finishes on 24 March this year - resumes from early November - so Jet2's three flights from 30 March don't clash with easyJet and they extend the Iceland season by two or three weeks.

Tui offers Iceland holidays for feb 2022 and feb 2023 using Tui flights every weds and sun. Having been there a few years ago I can imagine there be plenty of demand

Thanks Marko. I only checked the January departures for those seasons, assuming that any winter service would include that month. So that leaves three carriers on the Keflavik route albeit two are for very short seasons.

No worries , I’m quite tempted to go back to Iceland soon - lovely place and a choice of 3 airlines to go with

BRS departure page showing Jet2 LS2177 final boarding for Bergen with 1420 std. Does anyone know in what connection that is? Hurtigruten perhaps?

Many thanks, Red Flyer.

Looking at peak summer this year , jet2 is only using 5 aircraft on Tuesdays , 6 on all the other days . Any idea whether that’s intentional ?

Downtime for maintenance on aircraft one would suspect.

Back in the older times of Jet2 (pre heading further south then EMA) - Jet2 would have quite a number of aircraft not doing that much Tuesday/Wednesday - maintenance etc. Also both them days they would operate "day time" (as such) flights to Cyprus, Canaries, Turkey etc again for maintenance in the evening and through the night.

Gone are those days now - the programme is full on for most bases.

So far I can see Palma, Malta , skiathos , Tenerife , dalaman , faro , lanzarote , Antalya plus the return of Malaga during peak summer 23

Daily flights from BRS to AYT and DLM in the 2nd "normal" season is pretty impressive.

Are you getting this off the Jet2.com/Jet2holidays website?

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
