Flybe have announced summer seasonal weekly flights between NQY and Liverpool. Good to see Flybe picking up where easy jet left off and continuing to show faith in NQY.. A big step up for them this year..

I'd like to see the flights go year round from BHX to NQY. I often go to Cornwall out of season, and it's always nice to fly rather than Drive for 4+ hours. This summer, I'm driving the Camping gear down, and the rest of the family are flying down from BHX :)

A super video on a Flybe Manchester-Newquay flight.

The first 90 seconds can be skipped as the aircraft is in cloud. Thereafter the approach to NQY shows the coast and a landing sequence followed by a lengthy taxi. The last two segments show how big a site NQY is. I can think of a number of regional airports who would give almost anything for this site to be moved to them, lock, stock and barrel.

Didn't it use be an Air Force base not so long ago? Or something to do with the Military?
Part of the site is still in the occupation of RAF St Mawgan and the site is a contender to become the UK's first national space port, although there is no suggestion that would impact negatively on NQY as an airport.

Think of what Bristol could achieve with Newquays runway and space..!

For its catchment NQY must have one of the longest runways in Europe - nearly 2,750 metres. Bristol might have had Filton - not as long as NQY but at 2,600 metres somewhat longer than Lulsgate's 2011 metres.

When ASW was operating I always meant to fly to NQY from BRS and come back on the train for a day out. Never got around to it.

Today in the local press, NQY and Flybe have announced a daily NQY - STN route from March this year. It appears to be part of an expanded offering of routes and frequencies from NQY this summer.. Im guessing this has something to do with the success of this year which has been great to see.

Other changes are as follows:

Manchester is now twice daily
Belfast and Glasgow flights have increased to twice weekly
Birmingham have additional weekend services which takes its flights to nine per week
Leeds Bradford will have summer flights for the first time at 5 per week

In total Flybe offer 12 routes out of NQY at 64 per week. Those being

Belfast city, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Doncaster Sheffield, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Stansted and Gatwick. Not bad i dont think...

They have certainly put a lot of faith in the routes to and from NQY. It would be nice to see if they fancied testing some summer sun routes... I think Malaga or Palma might be a good bet. Good luck for the summer...

That's an impressive total and ought to see NQY through the 400,000 barrier in 2017. Best ever so far as I can see was 2008 when at one point the running 12-month total nearly hit 450,000. Currently 355,000 (12 months to end of October 2016).

It's a tremendous recovery from only four years ago when the annual total had slipped to just over 160,000.

Flybe Winter 2017/18 schedule is on sale.
Leeds 3 weekly Sunday, Tuesday and Friday
London Gatwick is 19 weekly with 3 daily flights Monday to Friday and 2 daily Saturday and Sunday.
Manchester is daily

77 + 1 on todays BE803 to Gatwick.

The route will see a swap to the Emb 175 next year. Also, some of todays crew were Doncaster based.

Yes I read about this on my tablets news feed.

The good news is that no-one was hurt in either incident. These things happen from time to time. Just a bit unlucky that NQY saw two in quick succession although nothing to do with the airport of course.

I just wonder if they were safe and no danger to crew or pax why they did not fly on to Exeter as it is flybees maintenance base. Exeter is not far away distance or flying time from Newquay.

Because they wouldn't have known if the window was going to hold out so in the emergency they would've headed to the nearest airport which was Newquay. A case of better safe and sorry plus it probably just as easy to send the new window and engineers to Newquay.

Flew up and back to LGW last monday / tuesday. Flight sold out both ways. Excellent to see and will be intetesting to see what happens when the route is up for review regarding the goverment support for the link. Incidently, the flight was on the E195 which i believe Flybe are retiring from their fleet...

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
