Heathrow is stopping all arrivals and departures for 2 hours for the funeral, the Queen will travel from central London to Windsor which is directly under the 27 flight path and 09 flight path, reason is 1) out of respect to the queen 2) the amount of news helicoptors and police helicopters following it to Windsor

So will BHX see other diverts on Monday, closure for 2 hours is pretty big ?

Im sure the like of Qatar, Ethihad and the US carriers won't want to miss out ?
Heathrow did not stop all arrivals and departures for 2 hours. They closed certain Standard Instrument Departure (SID's) routes during the ceremony. I posted the NOTAM in the' Heathrow Airport - General Thread' -

A further NOTAM has been issued for Monday, which is likely to have a much greater effect -

Monday if FR24 doesn't crash should be interesting
I wouldn't expect there to be much higher demand on FR24 than usual on Monday. There's no special flight that people will be wanting to track, as there was with the flight returning Her Majesty's coffin to London.

Once in a lifetime Queens funeral or not, I’d be majorly pissed off coming to Birmingham when I’m supposed to be arriving at Heathrow then having to get a bus or chauffeur car to my destination adding another 2 to 3 hours on.

Sorry I think it’s ridiculous. Delay the flight from Dubai even.

I wouldn't Mind if EK were flying us back to LHR If I was travelling in Bussiness or First use the lounge if I was Economy use Vouchers to get food board and then fly back. I would also be annoyed using The Remote Stand for an A380

One way is that in the ACL slot publications, it lists the number of slots requested and the number of seats associated with those slots. Divide the total seats by the total slots and you get seats per aircraft. Check that against the airlines fleet and you can usually figure it out.
Correct - Emirates planning for 12 x A388 and 2 x B77W pw

It's not like Emirates to mix their aircraft at BHX like this.

Would it not be more realistic to see them operate 1 A380 & 1 B773 March-April, and then go double daily A380 from 1st May? would account for the average seat of 588 per flight, with the A380 having 615 seats, the B773 428 seats?

demand on EK40 is fairly high. However the 2nd daily service (37/38) aren't as popular. I also seen that emirates have started bringing back more 2 class A380s from storage

I always thought that it was EK37/38 that was the busier service. When it was 1 x B777 and 1 x A380 per day, I'm sure that the A380 was on the evening flight.

The A380 was introduced on the lunchtime service first in 2016 from the end of March to the end of December.

From January 2017 they swapped it over to the evening service, then from the end of October 2017, it went double daily.

Yep. Concur. Ten times I’ve done Oz / New Zealand and always took the night flight. That way you used to be able to get 412 / 434 / 406 etc.

Only time took the lunchtime one was for the connection to Perth.

Ah well, I suppose it was good while it lasted! Personally I would prefer a mix of 773 and A380 (with the 773 on the Lunchtime service). Cargo (which used to be the poor relation) has really come into play over the last few years. Whilst it is nice to have a nice shiny A380 for a passengers point of view, the 773 works wonders for both passengers and cargo at the same time!

Yeah, but generally most people use emirates for India / Pakistan. EK38 isn't the best in connecting to those flights. However 40 connects to a lot of flights.
It's worth remembering not all on Emirates are connecting to India and Pakistan. There are decent numbers connecting on to destinations such as Male, Bangkok and Australia.

I could be wrong, however I think those visiting Dubai are more likely to travel on the evening flight?

Yes, the 777 is a mighty beast but a noisy one at that, at least from a passenger's perspective! 😁 One can forget how loud them GE90s can sound until you fly an A380 and connect on to a 777 or vice versa. The best seats on the 777 are in front of the engine.

Personally, I'm happy we have a year round double daily service so don't mind the equipment being used. 🙂

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
