Great link, thanks for that.

How times have changed eh?

Still nothing at all from the local media, I'm not expecting headline news but I'd say it at least warrants a mention, maybe mid programme? I'm no fan of the Birmingham Post but at least they had a decent article. I wonder how many other regions media would ignore something like this :nea:

....and what a great number that is! Granted its the festive season but who would have thought that EK would be carrying over 2,300 pax in a single day! that, but also on the same day, Turkmenistan and Air India (both airlines competing for traffic with EK) managed 70% and 78% LF respectively showing this to be pure growth, not just pax shifting airlines.

Capacity on EK is also only going to increase over the next three months...

Dec 2015 = 2,410 seats per day
Jan 2016 = 2,520 seats per day (+5%)
Mar 2016 = 2,910 seats per day (+15%)

...and then QR come on to the scene adding a further 508 seats per day (increasing to 1,016 on Saturdays)

can you tell im a little excited by all this?!?!?

Those are excellent numbers indeed, even more so when you think that EK41/42 is only 5 months old and came straight in on a 77W.

Sure it's the peak season but great to see them doing so well :good:

Oh yes i can tell woody. Do you like big numbers ????

Another 2,308 pax carried by EK on the 30th, that's another 96% LF

Dec pax figures should be pretty impressive to see based on EKs 3rd daily flight alone!!!

What should be interesting is from April onwards and until the 3rd A380/4th daily is confirmed at MAN.

This will be the first time that the BHX seat count is near identical to the MAN seat count.

BHX will have 427+615+427 and then x2 each day, whereas MAN will have 360+517+615 and then x2, so, MAN will only have a 46 seat lead over BHX, and when you look at the bigger EK picture, 46 is nothing.

I know MAN has the bigger advantage going east, and, like I say, there is a further increase from Emirates due, but, for the first time ever, BHX has a few months to carry a similar load factor to MAN on EK flights, which will delight Paul K no end.

Hopefully it will also put smiles on the face of QR who will be thinking that they have come to a potential great new place. If EK can be such a great success, so can QR

Dubai Skyscraper Fire

Slightly off topic but its to do with Dubai so slightly on topic, whooooooooooooooaa, have you seen the news.

I thought i was watching the towering inferno until i realised it was for real. I hope nobody has been hurt or killed.

And they are continuing the firework display there despite this blaze being in the middle of it all!

Mixed reports about this, will they, wont they. We shall see in an hour or so.

Morning all!

With the introduction of the A380 on the BHX route, I decided on the EK flights to BKK. I was going to travel later and use Qatar, but the lure of the big bird swung me.
After initially booking a couple of weeks ago, the seat map outbound EK42 was showing a two class 77W. This morning it is now showing as a three class 77W on the 20th March. I'm hoping that the EK39 back on the 4th April doesn't get changed from the A380.. Seat map shows an A380 at the moment, and a HD one too.

Still time for changes. I know it's only a snapshot of a couple of days timetabling, but will keep updated if anything changes.

Cheers

Karl

Hi all we will be visited by the A380 sooner than we thought!
There will be A380 arriving on 24 March coming from Hamburg at 1000 and staying till 1700 to test the new air bridge and stand :drinks:

Kevin sorry I don't have any other details, but sounds like it could be an interesting visit?

Thanks for the info Daza/Ian.

That's interesting. As Hamburg is the final fit-out station for the A380, could it be a new undelivered airframe or an Airbus test aircraft?

I guess it could well be a new one, seven hours on the ground doing nothing is a long time for an aircraft to be out of action.

It's a shame I'm working that day, although I may be able to see it depart.

Thanks for the info. That is a very interesting movement indeed.

Damn i am working too, might try and book the day off work. :dunno:

with a A388 on the ground testing air bridges from 10:00-17:00, the question is where will the lunchtime 773 go? it will be a good photo seeing 2x emirates big boys on the deck at the same time!!!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
