assuming the 2-class 773 carries 425pax, that's an average LF of 92% over the course of the weekend!!!

Has anyone else heard that the day of the A380 test flight has changed again?

Was told today that it is now to be Tue 22nd and it could well be night stopping. Can anyone confirm yay or nay?

Not confirmed yet. Someone on the flyintobhx page says he'll notify with any details. I believe it'll be arriving at about 10:20 and night stopping.

Hi there ray, regarding an article about emirates, stating that it needs to get approval from 13 countries, so that it can establish a main hub link between central America and Asia, surely any approval wouldn't have to be from 13 countries would it, is this also to try and stop emirates from a dominance of certain areas, to enable equal airspace for all...Andyc

I believe that Tim Clark was talking about the code share with Copa Airlines through Panama. Emirates are planning it as a sort of mini hub with Copa Airlines carrying their code shares throughout Latin America and beyond.

Hi there ray, let's hope that when emirates A380 starts at the end of this month, that it starts a new era with Emirates altogether, and that the flood gates open and hopefully becomes the success finally that Birmingham deserves and all the hard work and waiting will pay off... Andyc

With the introduction of Qatar and the A380 at virtually the same time, it feels like BHX has moved up a league, with two US carriers and two of the MEB3 signed up now.

At the moment the A380 test flight is due from Hamburg on Tuesday evening. It's planned to be in 24 hours or so giving plenty of photo ops

Very much subject to change though.

Really looking forward to seeing this next sunday (Only 1 week to go folks) it feels like its been ages which i suppose it has since we had the A380 visit to open the new international pier. I also feel ythat with the arrival of the aircraft and the increased aircraft activity, maybe just maybe BHX will start to take us plane enthusiasts a bit more seriously, the car park area around that new "bus shelter" is going to be very busy place especially on a lovely warm summers day. It will be a great day out for many people, me included.

Looking forward to seeing the Qatar 787s too, lets not leave them out.

Lets hope that the weather is nice next Sunday.

I remember this day back in 2009 well

Looking at one particular thread on bluebackground.net, it saddens me that this kind of thinking still happens
If LHR had 4 runways and decent terminal capacity you can be sure EK wouldnt be flying as many A380's into the UK

If EK can get to 2 A380s into MAN and yet MAN can still get CX achieving 90%+ loads with Shaheen Air having literally just started when they are just 2 examples of where the MAN EK passenger connects to and now BHX joining the A380 club with the introduction of the 3rrd flight last year not affecting AI, then I would suggest that there's an awful lot of airlines who seems to be missing out due to the "perceived wisdom" that EK absorbs all eastbound traffic out of the regions.

I would tend to think EK may be just a little cautious for the remainder of this year in terms of upgrading the evening service to A380s as they will want to bed it in

I think it's just ingrained to many that long haul from the UK means London. I like to think that the myth is slowly being eroded but there is still a long way to go.

Emirates do well but it doesn't stop the likes of Qatar and Turkish steadily expanding. It's also great to see the likes of Cathay and Air India doing so well from the regions, hopefully more and more airlines will take notice and realise that the world doesn't revolve around the capital :good:

The new Emirates morning service seemed to dilute the midday flight initially but it's recovered well and will of course be an A380 as of next week. The evening flight is pretty much always full and has been for a long time, I think they could slot in an A380 without affecting the other flights too much.

A380 visitor on Tuesday night (?) will be Airbus MSN207 (75th Emirates) as a new delivery from Hamburg Finkenwerde:

'Apparently this is due to be delivered Via EGBB-BHX Tues night stopping at bhx then heading to DXB On Wednesday' (thanks to Globemaster100) on

According to the A380 production list that should be A6-EOW.

It's due in 18:20 on Tuesday and out again 18:00 on Wednesday. That could well change again of course. There is also a media event during the day.

Some are suggesting that the A380 test flight has been cancelled by Airbus. Others are convinced it's still happening tomorrow. The Birmingham Mail have reported the 24th at 16:50.

This morning the airport on Twitter said that they were still awaiting conformation of the times from Emirates.

I think this may be a it'll turn up if/when it does.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
