new route to Chisnau, Moldova from June 2017.

Flies on Tue/Thu/Sat in the afternoon with A320.

Quite a coup that one, Moldova is a hard one to get! BHX really showing how it's done with Eastern Europe lately!

Fly One only started flights this year, hopefully they won't go the way of similarly obscure carriers that BHX used to attract in the past.

Where are the flights showing, as I can't see anything on their website?

Thanks for that. These are the times that I saw on Google:

KIV 11:00 BHX 12:25
BHX 13:20 KIV 18:30

I assume the above are local airport times as I don't see how a flight can be under 90 minutes one way and over 5 hours the other way :)

The time difference is +2hrs.

So in UK time, the flight is

KIV-BHX 0900-1225 (3hr25)
BHX-KIV 1320-1630 (3hr10)

Flights also showing on OAG as well, starts 6th June, flight numbers 5F 615 inbound, and 5F 616 outbound.

Their fleet shows 2 elderly A320's, 24 years old, and ex Eurocypria/Cyprus Airways 5B-DBD, and ex Caledonian/JMC/Thomas Cook G-BVYB, lets hope they have a few more newer airframes on order!

Great news and a new route/country/city ...doesn't rock the world but if year round, that's 55,000 seats.

I personally think this is an ace route, I'm genuinely jealous.

I've been hoping Manchester would get a Moldovan route for a while, to have Romania and now Moldova covered, I think this is a huge coup for BHX, only route outside London.

If this doesn't 'rock the world' for you, we'll gladly take it off your hands up the road.

As you can tell, I'm a fan of niche routes.

Haha no no User001, we'll keep it for the time being if you don't mind ;o)

We just need it confirmed now. Indeed having niche routes is a great asset. Being one of only X airports in a country flying to destination Y is always good, just often comes with risk. I hope it pays off!

Indeed this is an excellent little route and definitely unexpected.

It's also now bookable on their website, 5F615/5F616 :)

Good to see ...was starting to wonder!

One thing I do notice, no sign of these new routes on the NYC website!!!

We now have a press release on the airport website. It suggests an A319 is to be used but their booking engine shows an A320 with some research showing that they only have A320's in the fleet. Maybe some A319's are to join soon?

Whatever is used Chișinău is a cracking route (y)

This is a cracking route for BHX and full of potential.
Not only is there a chance for tourists to go somewhere new,but for local businesses to enter new markets.
It also also opens up further connections to Eastern Europe, and into Russia.
It further enhances BHX's niche routes,i.e. Routes that our competitors don't have.
Let's hope it proves successful.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
