Battle 8: Manchester (MAN) to Miami (MIA)

This really is a no-brainer: our own TCX at £410,
with TAP second at £711 (£300 more) and AF at £747, AA via ORD at £793.

Interesting, coming out top is TCX via JFK at £500, followed by AA via PHL (even in the US years, this was a popular connecting point) at £518, Delta via JFK for £528, TCX direct for £560 and VS direct for £621.

Interesting that DL/TCX both undercut the direct fares. Hmm.

Battle: How is MAN used as a connecting point?

I am going to use Amsterdam (AMS), Paris (CDG), Edinburgh (EDI), Rotterdam (RTM) and Dusseldorf (DUS). First up will be Boston.

Battle 1: Europe to IAH
First up is Edinburgh. Google flights don't appear to show BE so I have taken to SQ's own website. I am sure other portals e.g. skyscanner show BE flights.

1) Edinburgh-Houston

How does it compare to other 1 stop options from EDI?
British Airways via London (same date) - £515
United via Newark (same date) - £603

I know which airline I'd rather take ;) Great to see a good connection option in MAN.

Pretty ideal connection times and for 698 EUR return!

How does it compare with non-stop or one stop flights?
1) KLM direct is 841 EUR.
2) British Airways via LHR is 834 EUR
3) Delta via Detroit is 976 EUR
4) United direct is 1058 EUR

This is pretty impressive. By far the best option when travelling Netherlands-Houston which is a relitavely large market.

It is good to see these options from major hubs. However I think MANs best chance of attracting transfer traffic is to focus on the secondary points in Europe with underserved direct services.

Ideally this would be by one airline offering a singe service product, but if BE can increase their network that would help. One point on this, might they need to consider larger aircraft at some stage if MAN continues to get full outside of peak times?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
