I was unable to find another thread dedicated to this so thought best to start a new one, as some of you know I own and run Bristol Airport Spotting a group dedicated to spotting and aviation at Bristol Airport, recently the Apron website the airport managed was shutdown and we have taken over the public display of the Mayfly downloads, to view them please visit - http://www.bristolairportspotting.co.uk/spotters-tools/mayflys/

That's great news and a first class initiative on your part, Simon. Many BRS-followers and others with an aviation interest will be grateful. Mayfly is something that few if any other UK airports publish.

Thank you.

Yes very useful. Like i now know, after one week off work that tomorrow my last flight to handle is around 23:05

I note that no Mayflys have been available for the past three weeks via the Bristol Airport Spotting website. I wonder if it's another victim of the IT problems at the airport.

I contacted the Bristol Airport social media team today to note that it’s 24 days since the IT failure and it’s still not resolved.

[QUOTE@BristolAirport 24 days since the IT failure within the terminal. A company of this size surely should be able to get the systems fully operational by now. You may consider some to be non-essential but to your customers they are part of the airport experience. #notgood #update][/QUOTE]

The response I got as follows:

Our teams are working to ensure all systems are fully operational, but this is a time consuming process given the number of security sensitive processes. Flight schedules have not been impacted at anytime. We apologise for any negative experience.~Carl

Such a poor response, it’s no different to banks and the NHS having suffered from cyber attacks, they seem to sort it within a few days.
But with only a few flight info screens working, no check-in or gates screens working it is a poor show 24 days later.

Thanks for sharing that, alphagolf. What is 'security sensitive' about getting information screens back running properly? Unless they mean they can't be sure that the security of their IT processes are rigorous enough to withstand further hacking.

It is a very poor response to a very poor situation. The airport is lucky that the local news media (for want of a better name) are so inactive when it comes to researching news themselves (they rely on press releases, complaints from the public and surfing social media sites in the main) that they have not sussed out the fact that the airport is way behind the game in getting all its systems back running properly. The Bristol Post in particular loves any story that portrays the airport in a negative light.

Like any major IT failure, the IT problems will go far deeper than just the departure screens in the airport. I’m sure it will take a while to get the large and complex amount of systems and data all back up to 100% again whilst trying to keep the 24/7 operations running!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
