As OPEC has decided to reduce oil production to raise the price of crude oil recently I thought it would be good to start a petrol price thread so people can keep track of the price in your area and around the country.

Here in NW Leeds the price is £1.04.7 per litre at my local Morrisons petrol station. Gradually creeping upwards from a baseline of around 99p earlier in the year.

  • Morrisons £1.04.7 per litre @ 30/12/2016

Good idea for a thread. I live in the Staffordshire Moorlands and the price at my local BP is £1.15.9 per litre!

No idea about the price of fuel here but I do have one question.

Are people on here prepared to drive to a petrol station further away in order to save a penny or two per litre? My father-in-law regularly goes well out of his way to save what I can only imagine to be pennies, it wouldn't surprise me if travelling the extra distance actually cost him more than he saves.

Fair question. I make regular journeys between Leeds and Manchester and if it's beneficial to refuel at one end as opposed to the other I will try to do that. I wouldn't normally otherwise be prepared to travel more than a couple of miles away from where I'd normally refuel.

I paid £1.159 per litre for unleaded petrol at my local Tesco (south Bristol) today.

By coincidence the local rag has done a piece today about the cheapest places to buy petrol around Bristol.

£1.137 per litre seems to be the cheapest.

When I had my first motor bike in 1960 petrol was 4s 8d per gallon - just over four and half litres (23-24 pence in today's money).

Petrol prices are on the up again. 1.16.9 is about the cheapest I've seen recently with 1.19.9 at more remote filling stations.

The closest petrol station to us which is Morrisons is now 1.18.7 bearing in mind the same petrol station was 1.04.7 on the 30th December! :blackalien:

I have just been into Manchester and in the Stockport area, it was generally more around £1.19 (diesel)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
