Certainly would be a welcome boost ! I imagine something like 2 X weekly on the A319 would do extremely well in the summer months, also gives them a few months to promote the route, The charter flights to LCA albeit only once a week are always packed.

That's great news hopefully they'll release the flights soon! 3 new airlines and 5 new routes for Summer 17 is great!
Will be interesting to see Cobalt develop as i'm wondering if they may end up operating out of ATH and doing routes that Aegean seem reluctant to touch.

see a poster on dried plum said he tweeted cobalt and they replied thar cwl is on their radar ,but have no plans in place to start any thing in the near future. that does not sound good. s17 looks out to start with.

It's in their drop down menu as well as NCL and GLA. I did see an advert for them for new Cabin crew as well. Brussels starts at the end of March so I'm wondering if CWL NCL and GLA might not start till the end of May early June. Which should give them time to recruit.

They could also be waiting to confirm delivery of 2 aircraft before putting flights on sale.

Not an official source but i've been told that Cobalt will be receiving 2 new aircraft at the end of March and flights to CWL, GLA and NCL will begin after that but at what frequencies i don't know.

Cobalt now have Brussels and Tel Aviv on sale.

Both of these appeared on the website around the same time as CWL, hopefully it won't be too much longer before their UK routes go on sale.

On Prune a poster said he'd emailed Cobalt and they replied 'Cardiff flights are still under flying license process.'
What the hell does that mean?

Wasn't that you Jerry ?

No idea, CWL-LCA does not need a license anyway. Both countries are part of OpenSkies.

Nope I don't post prune. Would they need a license for another aircraft? Or if they are wet leasing from a non EU airline?

Possibly yes, although i would have thought they would be waiting for their own metal to arrive rather than wet-leasing from outside. Don't think they're in that much of a rush to launch CWL, NCL and GLA by the looks of things.

I would like to be proven wrong, but with the 3 airports announced for flights and not got them yet,i can see they will not operate.time gone on too long to announce any flights.lets hope I'm wrong.

I know they hiring crew for an A330. Maybe they are waiting for that to take over some A320 flights? If they still plan to launch flights this summer they might struggle to fill the aircraft unless the prices are silly cheap. They are probably better off waiting till October and launching it as a winter sun routes.

Cardiff, Newcastle and Glasgow have been removed from the drop down menu and destinations list :(

Maybe there was an issue with the suggested new aircraft?

That's disappointing. I know they have just announced Zurich. In a way though I'm glad it's all 3 they have dropped and not just CWL. Hopefully they might consider CWL for next year.

Doesn't surprise me unfortunately, especially as the months have gone on nothing really has become clearer and especially with the summer season looming and the majority having booked summer flights, a potential March start in 2018 would be far better which allows for a bigger lead up in advance bookings and also extensive marketing of the new route, after all very similar to VY when they first arrived, an unknown brand as such needs as much lead up time as possible.

Launching a route for a start say in early May/ June could well have been damaging especially if the LFs were below average, very low fares might have meant poor yield which of course could have meant the service could have only lasted a season which would have been a bit dissapointing. I'm sure the management will be regular discussions with the airline for a future service.

I agree, Craig. It would have been great if this service had started this year, but with a much longer lead-in than would have been the case had it been announced now. Whatever are the reasons for it not starting this year, the hope must be that it will be announced for summer 2018 very early.

I was wondering if they would put it off till October or November and launch it as a winter sun route. Although CWL does have 3 new destinations for next summer 4 if count Berlin it is a shame that they have gained no new holiday routes or a scheduled route that TOM or TCX already cover (with the exception of FAO). No one knows what will happen for 2018 if Cobalt will start then or ever or other airlines will appear. If there isn't I'm also wondering if it might be better for the airport and Flybe to lease an A320/737 and operate the routes like LCA MLA and IBZ. I suppose similar to what TCX does at CWL.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
