Ah the 80's....Thundercats, The Racoons, Going Live, Grange Hill, Neighbours and being oddly traumatised when Tasha Yar was killed off in Star Trek The Next Generation! Happy days!

Dungeons & Dragons, Rentaghost and Knightmare. Proper children's television 👍

My Dad had a shed full of these tins containing nuts, bolts, screws etc....

Makes me feel so old - well I am old actually. The 1980s seem like yesterday. Having been born towards the end of WW2 I was approaching my 40s when the 80s dawned. Our kids were 12 and 10 in 1980 but I honestly can't recall much of the 'pop music' or popular television of that time. I was never a great tv watcher and don't watch much now.

Ask me about the 50s and early 60s and that's a different matter. I could recite the FA Cup winners and scores of all the matches in the 1950s but can't remember who won it last year or in any year since about 1970 although I've watched nearly all the finals (on the telly - one of the few occasions I look at the box). It seems that early memories lodge in the brain for easy recall but as you grow older it's more difficult to dredge the brain for memories of later events with accuracy. That seems the case with me anyway.

Going back to the 80s, I seem to remember our daughter was keen on someone called Adam and the Ants? - has anyone heard of him/them?

I'm sure you can recall who won the league cup in 1963? 😉

Ah, the private Brummie party👍

I'm actually enjoying this thread because I'm learning things about the 1980s that passed me by at the time.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
