Very strange. Has that ever happened before?

If the flight is anything like full, there will be a lot of unhappy pax, unless they can get it fixed, refuel, still be in crew hours and come back to MAN which seems highly unlikely.

Not that I know of in these circumstances but I can remember a BA 747 going round twice due to a spurious GPWS warning from the railway line when it diverted here when the IRA took to pointing mortar missiles at LHR around 1994. Then it decided LPL was a better bet and when they didn't have the requisite level of fire cover to handle them and landed at NCL.

I think I remember the B747 episode David. MAN has not been short of strange incidents over the years.

Saw EK19 from the bedroom window over Cheadle Hulme still descending for 23L. I don't know what altitude he was at when he aborted the landing but it seemed an age before he told ATC he was going around. I was assuming he must have landed.

Hi David, your post on the BHX forum mentioned a third A380 diversion—Malaysia?

Two more 747s (G-VROS and G-BNLJ) are heading north although G-BNLJ is quite high up now and may be going to Newcastle.

So.... when EK arrives we could have 4 A380s on the filed with a stated max of 3.. Looks like the "fluidity" of ops has come into play as stand 12 has NOT been used given that EK21 must be on it.
