New airline time! A new 'skiers' airline will be launching twice weekly flights from Manchester to Sion (Switzerland) with Fokker 100 aircraft from December 17th.

Powdair is busy counting down it's routes on social media - to Sion. Manchester should be 'officially announced' on their social media in the next few days.

Powdair flights now bookable.

POW470 SIR 0800 MAN 0845
POW471 MAN 0930 SIR 1205
Thu/Sat

will use E170 and if it gets painted as such, has a rather nice colour scheme.

Let's see if it gets off the ground.

As much as a new airline and new route excites me, I have a bad feeling about this outfit.

They have not yet raised their start up capital, thus, they are selling tickets for a service that technically doesn't yet exist yet.

They are using the designator POW which hasn't been formally registered by them yet.

They are apparently doing resort transfers in Tesla cars, which even for a 70 seat aircraft is a huge undertaking! If they have 2 E170 and those 2 E170 arrive/depart within a short time of each other, that's potentially 90 cars required, or a hell of a lot of journeys back and forth, with staggered pick up times.

There is then the issue of where they send the aircraft after the relatively short ski season. There will be a shoulder period where it won't be warm to do a 'lakes and mountains' type holiday, and not great for skiing either, and what if the ski conditions don't work out? What then?

I really want these guys to succeed, as Sion is a great route to have, but, if that first flight departs on time on 14th December, I'd be shocked. I obviously hope to be proven wrong, but, this is a very very risky and brave venture, and I just don't see it working.

Looks like my prophecy in the last post was accurate, as it seems we will very shortly be adding this to the ‘nearly, but not quite’ pile.

I've been singing the same tune in the BRS Powdair thread for a while too.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
