Easyjet have stubbornly refused for a number of years.
They claim BHX doesn't meet their operational requirements to open a base .On 2 e mails they have replied to me.
Whether that means they can't get a cheap enough deal out of BHX I don't know.

Considering only a few years ago they served just 2 routes (1 of which was only seasonal) from BHX and now they're serving 11 routes, I'd suggest their attitude towards BHX has changed somewhat.

They will only operate from away bases.
When I e mailed they about not having bases, that is what they said in 2019 and last time in 2022.
They went further when I stated BHX base would surely do well when you look at how many routes and how many seem to be doing well from BHX.
Stating its the destinations they have chosen from BHX that are the result of passenger numbers, that are similar from other UK airports.
So basically little praise for BHX which I thought was a bit harsh.

Mustn't get too greedy what with Saudi due to start, the return of Qatar and Emirates bringing back the A380 plus EasyJet finally just introduced Naples along with TUI doing a short season to Singapore for Marella.

Mind you Germany could do with a boost especially say Berlin and Stuggart, plus Hanover and Hamburg but now I'm getting greedy.

Hopefully other stuff in the pipeline others may be aware of but need to keep stum.

Completely get you.If Eurowings did a few more German routes then it would be grand.

Don’t know what’s happening with Turkmenistan airlines and PIA .

Cheers for answering.
Question was mainly aimed at Ian

PIAs audits still need to be processed by the EASA, so far they have passed all the ones they have taken but still have a few more to go through

I noticed today that Turkmenistan are using Stansted to Ashgabat with B772 aircraft, so i don't anticipate anything here at BHX for the time being.

One route I'd like to see that is served by some of the budget airlines, but not Easyjet which is a bit conservative in my opinion, is Quenn Alia International Airport in Jordan.

Jordan is an interesting tourist destination in it's own right that is seeing tourism growing. In addition that the airport is a nice modern airport with that is actually really relaxing to transit to. At the moment you can link to Bangkok but in the past there have been links to Dehli and Mumbai, Hong Kong and Kuala Kumpur. It's a shorter route than with Emirates and Saudia too.

Of course the holy grail would be a connection with Royal Jordanian. They also have 8 new Embraer E-Jets on order which could do that range with 12 business class seats and capacities of 92 & 120 respectively. That could prove an interesting alternative to some of the Gulf carriers and they are One World too.

Well thats a good couple of months then with Saudi starting, Qatar returning, Emirates bringing back the A380 and now EasyJet opening a base,

If we discount 2020 and 2021 things are definitely starting to look a little healthier under Nick Barton.

I think we shouldn't forget Tom Screen and all the work that he put in to secure the easyjet base. He'll probably never read this but massive congratulations are in order 🥂

The question is... what next? 😁

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
