Sal

The first of the weekly TOM flight to Sal, Cape Verde takes off tomorrow at 1000.

It's the first regular service from BRS to Cape Verde although Thomson was going to operate to Boa Vista each week a few years ago but the recession got in the way of that and it was axed before it started.

i see the tom 757 that did cape verde today is going to ssh to pick up brs pax that is stranded.
lets hope its one that is allowed to do the flt as a lot that has gone to ssh has diverted mostly to cyprus as only 8 allowed to land,to pick pax up.
no dout a lot of talking going on to get this sortedwill wait with interest if the brs plane will land in ssh.

It was due back with returning pax from Sharm at 2205 this evening but the airport website is showing that it's been cancelled. Seems to be one of those not allowed in by the Egyptian authorities.

I agree.

FR24 shows it currently over the Adriatic at 40,000', former First Choice B 757, G-OOBC.

Unless my eyes are deceiving me this early hour but is thomson adding extra frequencies this summer. On their drop down list appears girona plus there is additional frequencies on a number of routes incl Fue mah reu dlm tfs and lpa. No flights are for sale so could be a glitch however.

Could it be that, as at a number of other airports, Thomson (and others) have reduced Turkish flights and compensated with extra flights to the likes of Spain? Although if Dalaman has been increased this might not be so.

Are they TOM flights or are they taking seats on the likes of easyJet? In recent years I've had a couple of Swiss holidays with TUI companies from BRS and the carrier was easyJet.

It could also be that these are actually for summer 2017 and the programmer has got things wrong and jumped the gun.

Some appear to be easyjet flights but it doesn't explain girona and Reus extra flights. The Dalaman could be using tcx or ezy. Given that thomson clearly need extra capacity then hopefully we may see more thomson flights for next year

If Florida and Mexico are to return, albeit not starting until towards the end of July, then it seems to suggest that TOM will operate its B787s at BRS. If so that's very encouraging news.

Thinking about it, for the last two summers that TOM operated before to Florida and Mexico they usually started in May then pulled out for about a month in June (I think to increase services in Scotland during the long school holidays in summer there which start much earlier than in England and Wales) before returning sometime in July for the rest of the summer season.

Checking the diary list for summer 2017 on the Thomson website, on the Mexico route Saturdays from 6 May to 9 June are also shown in bold along with Saturdays from 22 July onwards through August. This would be a similar pattern that I described Thomson previously operating before they axed their Mexico and Florida routes a few years ago.

Here's summer 17 of what I can make out :-

Mon - ibz. Pmi. Lpa. Bou. Cfu. Nap

Tues - chania. Pmi. Girona. Tfs. Malta zth. Jtr kgs pula Antalya

Wed - Rho. Lca. Pap. Ibz. Pmi. Fue

Thu - ibz agp lpa ace sharm her. Bodrum Dubrovnik

Fri - pmi mah tfs sal cfu zth dlm nap

Sat - ibz pmi reu Ali pap Rho pula Orlando

Sun - agp Fao ace Catania lca kef her Cancun

Obviously nothing officially book able and some maybe other airlines

Thanks for that Marko.

The possibility of BRS getting long haul again hasn't gone down well on an aviation website dedicated to aviation in Wales. One poster is saying that all long haul from BRS have always had to have outbound fuel stops which actually flies in the face of the facts.

TOM's B 767s went non stop to Sanford for the last 2-3 years of the previous operation and the Continental B 757s never needed a fuel stop to Newark.

Cancun was the destination where an outbound fuel stop remained in place (Manchester). Hopefully, the B 787 should be able get to this destination non-stop.

ezy_brs posted this today in the BRS Movements thread.
Good morning all! How are we today? Heads up that on the 19th April at 1100 and departing about 1700 a TOM B787 is scheduled to arrive for a route launch and press shoot

It all sounds as if the long haul is going ahead with B 787s. This confirms rumours with very good provenance that I've heard elsewhere in recent days.

Very promising news. Be good to see it at the airport. I wonder whether this may be the impetus for the airport to provide jet bridges. Also could this now encourage other airlines with b787s to try Brs. I'm thinking Qatar or etihad .

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
