Kiss Flights has announced that it will be offering 12 summer routes to Mediterranean destinations starting in April. Some of the areas that people will be able to fly to include Spain, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Portugal. A spokesman for the company said that the flights will be operated on behalf of Kiss Flights by Swedish carrier Viking Airlines, using a Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline hopes the flights will fill part of the void left by the demise of the Scottish based airline FlyGlobespan.

Re: Viking Airlines

Logical and sensible move i think. No one else has moved much since GSM demise from operations. Im sure Kiss flights in association with Viking will do well.

[textarea]Aer Arann to fly Donegal–Glasgow, drops Prestwick

Aer Arann has launched a new direct service from Donegal Airport to Glasgow Airport, beginning on 28 March and replacing the airline’s current Donegal to Glasgow-Prestwick route.

The new service will operate four days per week, up from the current three-times weekly service.

Glasgow Airport is situated just eight miles west of Glasgow city centre offering passengers more convenient access, and a recently announced £25 million investment at the airport will enhance the passenger experience there.

Welcoming the new service Aer Arann corporate affairs director, Andrew Kelly, remarked, “We are committed to offering our customers in Donegal and surrounding areas regional connectivity and direct access to major international hubs. With the direct route to Glasgow Airport we are responding to popular customer demand and we look forward to welcoming both new and existing passengers on this route in the coming weeks”.

This is the latest development for Aer Arann following the recent announcement that the airline has signed a franchise agreement with Aer Lingus to operate 12 routes between Ireland and the UK under the brand “Aer Lingus Regional”.

International Business Dinner: His Excellency, Liu Xiaoming
Ambassador-Web-.jpg

The Scottish Chambers of Commerce Network, in partnership with CISS, has secured His Excellency, China's Ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming to visit Glasgow today, 19th September 2017.

Ambassador Xiaoming is China's Top Ambassador to the United Kingdom and this event marks a significant opportunity for Glasgow and Scotland’s businesses as we build our international trading alliances and air connectivity.

His Excellency and his wife Madame Hu Pinghua are both in Glasgow for a special Business Dinner to be held at the city’s Grand Central hotel where he will deliver a Keynote Speech, highlighting China's global economic strategy and celebrating the China-Scotland Business Alliance. As Scotland looks to global economies to increase our opportunities for trade, Ambassador Xiaoming, one of the most important diplomatic figures in the UK, will seek to strengthen our business ties and widen the reach of the valuable China-Scotland relationship.

His excellency was afforded a traditional Scottish welcome upon his arrival at Glasgow Airport today and was formally greeted by the Airport’s Commercial Director, Francois Bourienne and Head of Airline Marketing, Steven Marshall.

It's being reported on the other forum that EDI-PHL has come at the expense of GLA-PHL (GLA's sole American service) and GLA-PHL will be cut from the end of this summer.

There's no American thread on the GLA forum, but not much point in starting one if the service is ending in a few weeks time.

Not a good day for AA in the UK regions.

Do Delta still run the seasonal GLA-JFK?

If what I am hearing from a number of sources is correct, the last of the GLA announcements has yet to come for next summer. Watch this space, but as always, nothing confirmed until the first flight takes off.

In an interview with the Herald the AGS chief executive outlined potential growth opportunities at Glasgow Airport over the coming years.

I have highlighted some of the key areas below;

  • The Emirates A380 is "consistently full" and the 20th anniversary of the GLA-DXB route is in April of this year.
  • TUI basing two more 737's in Glasgow (as I highlighted in the TUI thread these will provide additional capacity on existing routes and will allow Sal to operate year round and Naples to return)
  • easyJet adding an additional A320 (as I highlighted in the easyJet thread this will support Larnaca and Enfidha being launched, Marseille and Pula returning, Southampton and Hurghada becoming year round and other growth on existing routes)
  • Jet2 adding an additional B737 taking the total to 8 (this will support a new Verona route as well as additional capacity on routes such as Burgas)
  • WIZZ Air moved from EDI to GLA in November "we expect them to build from that position", currently 2 routes are served from GLA by WIZZ.
  • At least an extra million passengers expected this year, making the target for 2024 8.5 million, still just below 2019 figures which was 8.84 million
  • Brief mention of Turkish Airlines but nothing particularly enlightening mentioned “There has been a lot of talk about what Turkish [Airlines] wants to do. Glasgow sits on their radar of intended opportunities.”
  • Talks are ongoing with other airlines “There are any number of other carrier conversations that are very much alive.
  • North America is still on the wish list “North America remains absolutely a target. We are very hopeful we will start to return those services to Glasgow as well.” “I think it is flag carrier. I don’t know if it is seasonal or not. We will have to see how that works.”

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
