The Adventures - Broken Land

I saw this band many years ago, at the Birmingham NEC. If my memory serves me correctly, they were the support act for Fleetwood Mac's 'Tango in the Night' tour.

Or, if you prefer a slower live version -

Hazel O'Connor - Will You?

or alternatively, a live version -

Is it Pop, Rock, Punk, Jazz? I don't care, I think it's brilliant and totally underrated. That Saxophone is incredible.

I've always loved anything by ELO. The first album that I bought was ELO Discovery, when I was about 12. I also like other work that Jeff Lynne has been part of such as The Traveling Wilburys, which featured such giants as Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison and of course, Jeff Lynne.

Great song, amazing line up, Lynne and Petty as solid as ever on vocals and that guitar solo from Prince

Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

Prince is often thought of as a 'Pop' artist and many of his songs would seem fall into that category. But, he was so much more. His song writing skills were exceptional and when it comes to guitar playing, he was up there with the best (Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix to name but three).

Led Zeppelin - The Battle Of Evermore

I don't know why, but I've had this song going around in my head for the past few days - I'm not complaining. In this original version, Jimmy Page plays the Mandolin, while guest folk singer Sandy Denny (who was in Fairport Convention) joins Robert plant on vocals. Sadly, Sandy Denny died at the far too young an age of 31 back in1978.

A later version was performed live by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, featuring Najma Akhtar on guest vocals. The unusual string instrument operated by turning a handle is a Hurdy-Gurdy.

"Birmingham's own Prince of Darkness. It's Ozzy, it could only be Ozzy"

"When Birmingham's time came, they did it right"

"It's been a Brum 'Ting"

"Birmingham....... take a bow"

Good old Ozzy! I suppose he could be best described as a 'lovable rascal', but definitely an ambassador for Birmingham.
He has had his moments throughout his career. I remember one story (I think it was on a chat show), where his wife Sharon was explaining that they were staying in a hotel somewhere if the US. In order to try to stop Ozzy going down to the bar, Sharon had hidden all of his clothes. What did Ozzy do? He put on one of Sharon's dresses and went down to the bar. Only Ozzy!!!

If you ever read Motley Crue: The Dirt it gives you the full story. It's definitely not one to be posted on here 😁

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
