Still think there is a better use for a Ryanair aircraft than Santander. They should try linking a few more major cities in Europe with BHX, the likes of what I mentioned before plus Berlin, Rome (either airport), Marseille, Cologne (many carriers have tried this one I know ) and maybe Eindhoven. I also think Derry would do well too.

Totally agree. Germany is underserved in recent years from BHX. FRA and a currently reduced MUC service is a pale shadow of what we had a few years back. Hamburg, Hannover, Stuttgart, Cologne and Berlin.
Surely scope for Ryanair to try these routes out.
Alternatively, the Orange operator might have longer term plans when their base opens. Time will tell.

Yes Germany definitely underserved but while Ryanair/EasyJet would be welcome they would probably offer 2/3 flights weekly where as much the German routes are business led or at least used to be and really need a daily service.

Flybe had good frequency but using smaller capacity aircraft and going back in time BA operated Hanover and Hamburg with the ATP.

Berlin not being served is a mystery to me and I can't see Cologne succeed given its only 40km or so from Dusseldorf.

At least we have Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf with up to eight flights daily between them. If you look at the LBA forum they have zero German routes and are distinctly not happy quite rightly given their catchment area.

Agreed, Rollo. As you say Ryanair and EasyJet would probably only offer 2/3 flights a week, which is not ideal for the business customers. I also think Cologne suffered when Germany reunited and Berlin replaced Bonn as the capital. I recall it was called Cologne Bonn previously.

There is no way of knowing if Billund and Bordeaux have been lost, they may have just been switched to summer seasonal routes. we will only know when Summer 2024 are released but too early to say fro now.

If you are under the opinion that Seville and Valencia are just cheap bucket and spade holiday destinations, you may want to look them up. just because they are in spain, don't be so fast to write them off...
I have been to both. Don't get me wrong, rather those two than more flights to malaga and Palma. As others have posted we struggle to keep some routes. But it may also be the wrong carrier on the right route. I am not a fan of Ryanair, endless stream of them in sunny Essex...be thankful for a bit of variety in BHX.

Come on squeasyjet, let's fill the gaps

I've always seen Ryanair as a more Leisure Low Cost Airline ie the sort Stag and Hen Do's or Familes use for cheap flights to the Sun. I see Easyjet as the more Bussiness Low Cost Airline ie serving Amsterdam, Paris, Germany, Vienna, Zurich, Geneva more places were Bussiness takes place, they do serve City Breaks to Rome, Barcelona and the usual Holiday routes but some of the routes suggested here I suggest are more Bussiness based which to me seems EZY would take Frankfurt I'm sure is where the German stock exchange is if not Hamburg which I know is an important Bussiness City. Ryanair could operate more City Breaks maybe places like the Balkans, Riga, Bucharest, Venice, Florence

looks like Ryanair have updated their summer schedules for next summer and it’s looks very different to this summer just different.
Cork down to 4 weekly and Madrid upgraded to 4 weekly

I’ll of course update the schedule later on

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
