There was a small airline that flew from Carlisle to London Stansted via Liverpool some years ago. I think it was using a Jetstream, and they were called Lakeside Northwest. I took it once from Liverpool to Stansted, but like many of these very small carriers it disappeared.

I find it interesting that they haven't announced an airline for these flights yet. Wonder if Stobart will operate the flights themselves or get someone else to operate them?

I wonder if some would be season if they are hoping to attract lake district tourists. Although it may open the region up more for weekend breaks if people can get there quickly .

Looking at the destinations then I'd say they would be all year round flights.

Honestly not sure. I think there will be some demand as the Lake district is a popular area and for many in the Lake District, Carlisle and Dumfries area those flights might be easier than travelling to Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester for those routes. Connections will be vital so it'll be interesting to see the flight times.

Interesting article about whether Stobarts plans for Carlisle will work with Plymouth getting a mention and a slight error concerning KLM and Leeds!
https://blueswandaily.com/carlisle-...-now-attract-and-sustain-the-routes-it-needs/

Plymouth is somewhat larger than Carlisle with a population of 250,000-plus. Carlisle has a 1800-metre runway unlike's Plymouth's 1160-metres that effectively restricted it to Dash 8-300s when it was open. Slightly larger aircraft could operate from it but with load penalties. I don't think the article's comparison between Carlisle and Plymouth is wholly justified.

Curiously the flights are being sold via Loganairs website and not Flybe.

Didn't Ryanair once mention they were interested in serving Carlisle to help generate Lake District business ?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
