That bottle is finished now so I think I'll wash it down with some Johnnie Walker Red Label. Not a bad whisky for a blended!

Back from a pub tea with a couple of glasses of red
a small barrel of yummy Adnams Ghostship, served with a juicy Sirloin steak and summer fruits to finish

And which of Islay's multitude of offerings is your favourite?
Prosecco to remember my mother who died in 2005. Happy memories in what would have been her 102 year.
I don't mind Three Barrels. We've got a couple of bottles in the sideboard. After finishing the South African Chenin Blanc I happen to have come across a bottle of Three Barrels brandy in the cupboard which I didn't even realise was there.
Not a bad drop![]()
There is a lot of snobbery with alcohol.
I don't. You're right about 'corking' and I suppose there might be an occasion when for whatever reason wine in a screw-top bottle might be 'off', but that would be obvious to the waiter after you'd taken your first sip and cried out, "Ugh!", whether you'd taken your test taste or not. The bottle would have to be ditched either way. Most definitely.
Out of interest does anyone on here have the remotest idea what they are doing when the waiter pours a drizzle of wine then waits for your approval? Am I the only one who looks up smiling and says "mmmm, that's really nice"?
I appreciate that they are looking for wine that may be 'corked' but in today's world most bottles are screw top and when the waiter undoes one and still asks you to taste one wonders, why?!
Anyway, just finishing the Semillion Chardonnay, there is a Malbec ready and waiting in the kitchen![]()
I'm a bit of a philistine when it comes to alcohol. I know what I like which often involves preferring cheaper wine over more expensive.
