Press release just issued:

As the Commonwealth Games start this week Qantas has announced today that will start a direct service between Gold Coast International Airport the host city of the 2018 Games with Birmingham the host of the 2022 Games. The three weekly services will run from 1 April 2019 in our New Boeing 787 14F series the latest addition to the 787 fleet.

Qantas communications director Filip Aroo says: "This is an exciting new opportunity and it will be the first time Australia's fastest growing city will be connected with Europe's and Britain's economic hub. The connection between the two cities will strengthen during the transition of the Commonwealth Games and we figured as we will have to hand the torch over next year why not take a few passengers with us."

The Chief Executive of Birmingham International Airport was unavailable to comment but one insider was heard to gasp "what about Orlando!!!!?"

The new 787 14F will be named Sir Trev 'n' Bev in honour of two of Birmingham's most significant cultural icons.

And today of all days.

Hi there Ray and all, regarding Quantas latest announcement, does this mean what I think it means about direct flights from the gold coast airport and Birmingham, during the years 2018 commonwealth games, direct flights in a 787 dreamliner, but if this is correct how I understand it, this is excellent news that birmingham needs... Hello Carl0927, regarding your last post, I do hope that your comment about my recent post wasn't at me at all in any at all.. Y

Somebody on the dried fruit MAN thread have done a similar thing with Thai x 4 weekly on an A350. But knowing MAN it probably is news, we can only dream about things like this at BHX

Hi there Ian butty, so why was it directed at you for, for what reason does that person have that right to direct any comment or criticism at you unless called for... Andyc

I`m not sure that the MAN rumour is an April fool as it has been on several sites over the last few days but we shall see as I won`t be sure until the plane parks up at the gate

I always think the best stories on 1 April are those that have all the appearance of being an April Fool but are actually true.

Hi Andrew, hope you are well.

The fact that Ian chose to post this Qantas news that then turned out to be a joke as it is 1st April (April fools day) it is then up to the individual whether they comment or criticise the post depending on there sense of humour of course. Carl
Posted a comment about the post being funny which from where I am sitting is a fair comment to make. After all it is really funny :ROFLMAO:

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
