I see the airport has shut down. Nothing due as schedule, the runway will be opened again for any emergency should any thing crop up, and also if the militry wants to use it as its a militry runway that they can use. Dont know how long this will go on for but it sure is dire. End of the day we all have to have thoughts with people that has lost their lives and families.

I've not 'liked' the airport closure but I've 'liked' your sentimemts re the effects of the pandemic, including the livelihoods of so many workers, including those at BRS.

Nothing shown on the BRS arrivals/departures boards but according to FR24 today's KLM Cityhopper flight from/to Amsterdam was cancelled.

The TOM flight to Palma was down as cancelled today.
Yet between them easyJet and Ryanair operated nine departures today to Spanish destinations including Palma.

The weather forecast over the next couple of days is suggesting 50 mph southerly gusts. I suppose they might impact on the flow of traffic on the airport's east/west runway at over 600 feet up in the North Somerset mountains.

I see the Loganair service from and to Aberdeen has been cancelled for the last 2 days. Has any one any idea why. Im wondering if its low pax loads ,or are they doing a BMIR stunt by killing the route.

The Loganair BRS-ABZ route has only been operating 2 x weekly (Mon and Fri) through August and even then one way via BHX.

Looking at Loganair's booking engine the route continues as Mon and Fri only until Wednesday 16 September after which it is currently shown as 5 x weekly (no Sat or Tue flights).

BHX-ABZ continues as Mon and Fri only until Tuesday 15 September when it increases to 6 x daily (no Sat flights).

I don't know why the BRS website has just begun to show the flights as cancelled on the days they are not scheduled to operate. Perhaps they were scheduled at some point but then withdrawn.

Saturday 7 November 2020

Ryanair FR504 from Dublin due BRS at 0740 was diverted to BHX. The return FR505 to Dublin at 0805 operated from BHX according to the BRS website departures page ('By road to Birmingham').

Weather-related?

Up till now the arr/dep boards showing 3 arrivals and the dep showing 6 as cancelled. So as the days go on the boards are going to look sick.

Thursday 29 July 2021

easyJet EZY393 to Inverness at 1405 and return EZY394 at 1725 both cancelled. I don't know why. It doesn't seem a case of a reduced schedule as INV is being sold next Thursday as well as the other scheduled days.

Low cloud base causing issues at BRS this morning - no arrivals as yet...

7 diversions (4 to BHX and 3 to CWL)

Update - 11:22 the EZY AMS has landed after quite a lengthy hold.

Looking at FR24 and listening to the departing airport (sic) above my house it seems that the non-Cat3b runway 09 is in use today. The forecast was for mist this morning as it is for tomorrow early morning. If the wind dictates that it's 09 again tomorrow and the forecast turns out to be correct I suppose there might be a repeat of today.

As a matter of record easyJet flights from Belfast International and Glasgow were diverted to Cardiff Airport as was an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin.

easyJet diverted a flight from Edinburgh to Birmingham Airport, as did Ryanair with flights from Poznan, Malaga and Palma.

Aircraft began landing again from late morning and over the lunch period about 15 passenger aircraft arrived. The diverted easyJet aircraft that went to CWL also returned according to FR24. I presume the diverted easyJet aircraft to BHX also returned to BRS.

The BRS website is showing Ryanair's return sectors to Poznan, Malaga and Palma as cancelled, as was the return Aer Lingus flight to Dublin (nothing shown suggesting passengers might have been bussed to the diversion airports).

Incidentally, my wife heard something on the local lunchtime news about the airport working on equipment that caused the aircraft to divert. She's not interested in aviation and was only half listening but did mention it to me later.

I'm sorry TLY but you have me seriously concerned about the future of Bristol airport - based on your above post:

o_O

I don't know about your being seriously concerned about the airport. I think you ought to be more concerned for me.

I can't find an excuse so I'll invent one. Having listened to half an hour or so of the live stream of the BRS appeal planning enquiry it's such slow going that I either have to come out of the live stream or fall asleep. I was obviously more asleep than awake when I typed the above post.

I sometimes listen to bits of the recorded day's appeal business just before going to bed. It's better than any sleeping pills for insomnia.

I believe the EI DUB service operated from CWL as FR24 has the service down as leaving there at 13:56 with the flight number EI297.

Given that it landed at 09:06 I’d have imagined a much more rapid return to DUB if they’d gone empty.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
