After ba and lufthansa left it took many years to recover the likes of routes that bmi now operate. Any replacement would not offer the choice of flights that bmi offers. Remember the once daily ezy to cdg ?
Therein lies a problem. bmi regional might not be a reliable airline in terms of maintaining schedules but, as you point out, what other airline would operate this sort of network from BRS at these frequencies? It works both ways because there aren't many smaller regional airports that have a catchment that could sustain the bmi regional high fares.

When easyJet tried Hamburg for a year a decade or more ago the average loads were usually over 100 but this was not enough to be a viable option for the airline . HAM is one of just a handful of BRS easyJet routes down the years that failed.

When they get their act together bmi regional can be very good as instanced by the Skytrax reviews (a website where negatives usually swamp positive reports) during the first year of the airline's independence.

Good news today. Thus far all bmi regional BRS flights are operating.

Do we really think that. AF and LH departures was a long time ago and things have moved on considerably.. I don’t think it would be. The airport has good passenger numbers, yields and access to a busy business area.
I say BMI Time to shape up or ship out. Just my personal opinion...

bmi regional cancelled morning Paris Cdg rotation today.

Strike action in France again Thursday and Friday.Dont know if this affected the BMIR flight.
Thanks superking. Strike action in France. Who'd have thought it?

It is rather strange as far as I could tell only 1 flight cancelled yesterday. With that in mind I'm wondering if it was a BMIR thing again.

That's always the first thought with bmi regional because they cancel so many flights even when there is no industrial action or when there are no weather issues.

I saw a post on a Facebook page the other day which said BMI were short of crew so maybe that could be contributing to the cancellations?

Its got to a point as when there is no strike makes more news than when they are on strike.
Its a good job for those taking industrial action that Ronald Reagan was never President of France. In 1981 he sacked 11,000 striking American air traffic controllers and they weren't allowed to come back.

In the UK occupations such as the police and armed services are not allowed by law to strike or take any industrial action.

There is always a balance to be struck between the right to withdraw labour and a responsible attitude to employment. France seems to have reached the stage that the UK experienced in the 1970s when other countries, including French commentators, described Britain as the sick man of Europe because industrial strife was so widespread.

I think it'll probably get worse as President Macron is trying to change the Labour laws i believe.

I think every new French president says he will reform the labour laws and then the farmers, fishermen, civil servents et all explain that it will not be happening if he wishes to remain president.
Regans are few and far apart.

Return working of afternoon bmi regional from Munich BM1846, due BRS at 1650, shown as cancelled on BRS website arrivals page. The outbound BM1845 at 1210 is shown as 'departed'.

Same thing now with the evening Frankfurt. The outbound BM1827 at 1630 is shown as 'departed' but the return BM1828, due BRS at 2050, is shown as cancelled.

I see lots of flights cancelled from BRS today. Mainly Easyjet and Ryanair. Looks like the French strikes have hit BRS hard today.

This is the list of today's cancellations so far.

easyJet: Bordeaux, Paris Cdg, Marseille, Geneva, Barcelona (the second of today's two rotations)

Ryanair: Faro, Alicante

bmi regional: Paris Cdg (the first of today's two rotations), Dusseldorf, and the eveing inbound from Aberdeen.

There are numerous other lengthy delays of over an hour, many much more than an hour. The worst so far is easyJet's Olbia which is five hours late.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
