Quite a few night flights arriving due to strike action in europe. There is a few flights cancelled already for Wednesday and can see that list growing. I would also think quite a few flights will have delays.

I thought the strike was due to finish in the early hours of today. I don't know why some flights have been cancelled today.

easyJet cancelled their Marseille and Kefalonia rotations this afternoon/evening. There is a suggestion in the BRS easyJet thread that the Marseille cancellation might have been the result of crewing issues.

Up till now just 2 cancellations today. Frankfurt oped by BMIR and Inverness oped by Easyjet. Both were down as AM departures.

Updated list of cancellations, including the ones you mention.

easyJet EZY6111 to Nice
at 0705 returning as EZY 6112 at 1150 cancelled
bmi regional BM1825 to Frankfurt at 1200 returning as BM1826 at 1605 cancelled
easyJet EZY393 to Inverness at 1220 returning as EZY394 at 1540 cancelled
bmi regional BM1847 to Munich at 1720 returning as BM1848 at 2155 cancelled
bmi regional BM1815 to Milan Malpensa at 1720 returning as BM1816 at 2200 cancelled
bmi regional BM2007 to Brussels at 1735 returning as BM2008 at 2125 cancelled

It seems from timings that the same aircraft (and crew?) were due to operate the cancelled Nice and Inverness flights. If so it might indicate an aircraft or crewing problem.

There is another flight to Nice departing at 1250 but it's pretty certain that all the passengers on the cancelled NCE rotations won't be able to be accommodated on the afternoon flight. Furthermore, it's a 319 compared to the cancelled morning 320.

bmi regional BM1867 to Dusseldorf at 1720 returning as BM1868 at 2100 cancelled.

The first flight of the working week to 2 important hubs cancelled. Must be many disatisfied passengers and the compensation bill must be huge. How does this airline survive?

Being half term, the loads on these 'business' flights were possibly quite light of course, so maybe not viable in the current climate of higher fuel prices.

However, I wonder whether the recent BM/AF codeshare announcement, albeit for domestic French routes only, is indicative that BM have fallen out with LH, and these cancellations are a further symptom of that situation.

I guess from a LH/SN perspective the question has to be at what point does it become more cost-effective to run their own services, or change to another codeshare partner. However, with Brexit on the horizon maybe LH group are planning to let the service wind down of its own accord? After all, BRS is a very small dot on the LH landscape and any reputational damage etc. is unlikely to have much impact in the wider scheme of things.

The advantage of the ER3s/4s is that they are relatively small, therefore suited to multiple daily frequencies, which provides some contingency in the case of a cancellation (for whatever reason), unlike a 2-weekly or 3-weekly service where one cancellation can seriously screw up travel plans. This is still a major reason why business travellers in particular gravitate to LHR, so were BM to fold it would probably be a greater impact to BRS than to LH group.

That said, KL can achieve multiple daily frequencies (at presumably good LFs) with larger Embraers, so it can be done, and presumably KL would be the main beneficiaries if BM disappeared.

The very point I've made before is that should bmi disappear I highly doubt the likes of bru, Frankfurt Munich Düsseldorf and Hamburg would return in any other guise. That would be a greater blow than the loss of bmi itself

Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa must have a permanent Heathrow shuttle on standby for their passengers! The unreliability of their service must put quite a few passengers off from using them.

And the evening Hamburg rotation.

Just heard the Ryanair Kaunas departure overhead. Now 2230 - should have departed at 1645. It's not operated by a BRS-based aircraft so no return to BRS in the early hours.

easyJet EZY6211 to Corfu at 0625 returning as EZY6212 at 1345 cancelled
bmi regional BM1881 to Paris CDG at 0700 returning as BM1882 at 1015 cancelled
KLM Cityhopper KL1049 from Amsterdam at 0850 returning as KL1050 at 0920 cancelled

I suppose the easyJet cancellation was due to industrial action by Greek air traffic controllers. I don't know why the other two were cancelled.

I noticed the KLM into CWL about the same time as our KLM was cancelled as well.Wondering if there was some sort of problem at AMS about that time.
The BMIR was cancelled I noticed in the middle of the night.

That sounds as if there was some sort of temporary problem at the AMS end given that no further KLM rotations seem to have been cancelled at BRS today, or at CWL for that matter.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
