I heard a rumour that the culprits were 2 teenage girls, school going, who wrote the hoax in my opinion bomb threat letter.

Couldnt find this rumour on the internet. Nothing in the papers.

Anyone heard this on other sites?

Not heard anything but if it was two schoolgirls they would probably be unable to keep it to themselves, so the rumour might be credible.

It looks as though there was another security incident at BRS this morning. No diversions or cancellations occurred and the terminal remained open, but only passengers and staff were allowed inside as part of contingency plans that non-essential people are kept away from the terminal.

Neither police nor airport will say what led to the action taken. The police statement merely said, "We received information this morning concerning a potential security threat at Bristol Airport."

The security incident continued all day and night at Bristol. Only bonafide passengers with tickets allowed into the terminal, also staff with passes.

It's been reported that a man has been arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax in my opinion and communicating false information.

Further to my previous post, it's now been reported that a man has been charged with 'making a bomb hoax in my opinion' and appeared in court today.

Would be interesting to see what persuaded the authorities to not evacuate the airport when a threat was made. We probably will never find out.

A few problems with easyJet and Scotland today.

EZY 428 due BRS from EDI at 1930 is now expected at 0005.

EZY 402 due BRS from GLA at 1530 landed at 1926 and EZY 406 due BRS from GLA at 1905 is expected at 2125. All the outbound flights experienced similar delays.

I was EDI yesterday awaiting to fly to BRS on EZY 432 departing at 1935 (an EDI-based aircraft and crew). EZY 426 had been due to depart EDI for BRS at 1615 but arrived three hours late on the northbound from BRS (to complicate matters EZY 428 had left in the meantime on schedule from EDI for BRS at 1740).

The departure boards were showing both EZY 432 and EZY 426 (the delayed flight) with departure times of 1935. This seemed to confuse some passengers waiting (correctly) at gate 2 for EZY 432 to load when a general announcement mentioned EZY 426 also leaving at 1935 but from gate 7. Some began to walk towards gate 7 until some kind soul put them right.

In the event EZY 426 followed us down to BRS and landed four minutes behind us.

bmi regional 1885/1886 to/from Paris Cdg was cancelled today. It's the second Cdg rotation of the day.

This rotation was also cancelled earlier this week. Were there any industrial or other problems in France this week that might have been the cause? I can't find any in a quick internet search.

Or the old trick of cancelling a flight when pax numbers are low. BA did it routinely bet Cdg to Brs in the last decade. We could predict which flight would be canx using the 'gone tech' excuse.

A number of flights were delayed last night. naples did not come in. Prague, PMI, Corfu were delayed by couple of hrs. All due to delayed outbound, something to do with spillage in the stands.

Today there is spanish air strike, starting 4 am. Ah fun begins.

Any CAA stats on Thomson punctuality from Bristol. I get the feeling they have been atrocious this year.

Thanks for that kraktoa. If they are cancelling flights because of poor loads it's likely to exacerbate the situation because punters will become wary of booking with them and not only to Cdg. Hopefully, there is a genuine reason for the cancellations but two in a week doesn't say much for the efficiency of the organisation if it's not a commercial decision.

I'm not aware of any Thomson punctuality stats from BRS.

Last night EI-DPM operating the FR8297 from Alicante diverted to Stansted.

This morning G-EZWS operating U2422 from Edinburgh diverted to Cardiff.

These beautiful sunny autumn days have been starting with thick fog/mist and the easterly winds mean that runway 09 at BRS has been in use for several days. Unlike the reciprocal r/w 27, r/w 09 has no Cat 3b ILS ( the topography of the ground on approach to 09 would make Cat 3 unreliable).

Yesterday morning the first Ryanair DUB of the day went to Bournemouth of all places because of early fog at BRS.

The 422 from EDI this morning must have been especially unlucky. It was scheduled to arrive at 0930 and everything else around it seemed to have got in. I wonder why it didn't circuit for a short while. It got back from CWL at 1138 (visibility at BRS was fine from 1000 - maybe sooner- but I know 1000 was all right as I was walking in the near vicinity of the airport).

The aircraft (A 320 G-EZWS) was due to operate the 1000 to GVA but didn't get airborne until 1303 (according to FR24). I wonder why it went to CWL at all, why it took so long to get back to BRS and then took nearly another hour and a half before it left for GVA.

One positive thing though: I happened to speak to a man who had been due to fly to GVA on the 1000 service and return this evening. Because of the delay his plans were knocked into a cocked hat. However, the easyJet staff at the airport booked him onto next Friday's similar flights at no additional cost whatever. He was very impressed.

Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart) EI 3280 due BRS 0750 diverted to CWL, presumably because of the early morning mist/fog. Everything else got in all right according to the BRS website arrivals page.

Tremendous delays at LGW although everything seems to be getting in all right, no diversions so far.

Big delays at Manchester too.

Thursday 8 October 2015

EZY 6223/4 to/from Paris Cdg cancelled today. A note on the easyJet web site yesterday said they were aware of possible French ATC industrial action today but planned to operate all their flights although there might be delays.

The rotation was shown as cancelled this morning.

bmi regional's two Cdg rotations operated as normal today.

delays to scottish flts this morning due to computer problems with scottish atc.
scottish atc hope to have it sorted out this morning. many flts cancelled or delayed.

BRS seems to have come out of this reasonably well. No major delays on Scottish flights this morning according to BRS arrivals pages:

EZY 432 from EDI due 0815 landed 0819
EZY 422 from EDI due 0945 landed 1026
EZY 402 from GLA due 0950 landed 1020
BM 1802 from ABZ due 1015 landed 1117

Fingers crossed that there will be no significant delays during the rest of the day.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
