There are some diversions/cancellations this evening. I don't know if there were any earlier in the day because for some reason the BRS website arrivals page won't display all today's arrivals, merely the most recent and the ones due in the next few hours.

The page is showing BM 1864 Dusseldorf due 1830 diverted but not shown to where.

EI 3286 from Dublin due 1840 cancelled

BM 1838 from Hamburg due 2135 cancelled

easyJet 6168 from Amsterdam due 2140 cancelled

BM 1886 from Paris Cdg due 2210 cancelled

The fog is very thick where I live about seven miles north east of the airport so there may be some more. I was in my garden this afternoon and around four o'clock I noticed that the runway in use had been switched to 27 which at least means those aircraft with Cat 3b capability should be all right.

Are the BM 135/145s still Cat 2 these days?

I don't know but they never seem to land at BRS in Cat 3 conditions, neither do the turbo props of airlines serving BRS.

Unsurprisingly more cancellations this evening have now been reported:

BM 1828 from Frankfurt due 2045

BM 1808 from Aberdeen due 2050

SN 2059 (0p by bmir) from Brussels due 2135

KLM 1057 from Amsterdam due 2145

It looks as though the easyJet and KLM flights have been cancelled because of fog at AMS. Schipol showing a lot of cancellations.

At BRS easyJet and Ryanair seem to be landing this evening.

Monday 2 November 2015

Fog causing problems again this morning.

BMI 1801 dep 0700 for Aberdeen op from Exeter

BM 1881 dep 0710 for Paris Cdg op from Exeter

KL1049/1050 due 0845 from Amsterdam cancelled

SN 2055 (op by bmi regional) due 1005 from Brussels cancelled

BM 1822 due 1030 from Frankfurt diverted to Cardiff

FR 8122 due 1135 from Malaga diverted (to Birmingham?)

FR 8255 due 1145 from Gdansk holding

BM Airbus Shuttle from Toulouse also shown on FR 24 as holding overhead

FR 4756 due 1200 from Arrecife diverted to Birmingham

easyJets seem to be landing and Ryanair was earlier in the morning. Everything else seems to have been cancelled, diverted or seriously delayed.

Addendum at 1225 hours

FR 8255 due 1145 from Gdansk holding

Now shown as diverted to Bournemouth.

FR 8225 due 1225 from Rzeszow holding

EZY 6026 due 1225 from Barcelona landed at 1221

The BM Airbus shuttle from Toulouse continues to hold

Interesting yet again that easyJet is landing on the Cat3b ILS but Ryanair isn't.

can only thyink if fr pilots paying for their own nlicence, then perhaps they thought why pay for any extras.easy train and pay for their pilots,so makes sense to get as trained up as possable. it shows and pays off in the long term.

In the past it's been suggested to me that the B 738s need a bit more visibility in Cat3b conditions than the A 320 family. I don't know whether it's to do with braking capabilities on the BRS runway in poor visibility.

There have been more cancellations/diversions this evening. I don't know about this afternoon because the BRS website still refuses to make available the facility to view earlier flights which the 'new' website has been able to do until this weekend.

This afternoon/evening:

BM 1826 due 1540 from Frankfurt diverted (to Cardiff?)

EI 3286 due 1840 from Dublin cancelled

BM 1838 due 1835 from Hamburg cancelled

BM 1828 due 1845 from Frankfurt cancelled

BM 1868 due 2055 from Dusseldorf cancelled

bmr have had a torrid time over the last two days and tomorrow might yet bring more misery.

The airport website is showing BM 1886 due 1655 from Paris CDG and BM 1846 due 1710 from Munich as both landing in the last hour but when I looked at FR24 BM 1886 was shown heading into CWL after circling for ages above BRS.

Another feature at that time per FR 24 was an easyJet to Isle of Man departing at 1956 on the easterly runway with an easyJet to Belfast International departing two minutes later on the westerly runway.

Looking at FR 24 it does seem that a lot of aircraft did get in this afternoon when visibility improved (I was visiting east Bristol and the sun even came out there for an hour or so this afternoon).

Addendum

Good to see the Wizz Air from Katowice landed at 2033.

i did see a couple of bmr aircraft land back into brs. they were empty and came from cwl.

Anyone know why FR 8122 from Malaga (due 1135) diverted to BHX today? Weather seems ok and everything else appears to be landing.

one thought. is there any fr aircraft parked for winter this year. if so i wonder if it was a aircraft change,as they do rotate parked aircraft.
just my thoughts as aircraft was agp based.

Despite very high winds for much of the afternoon and evening (80 mph gusts predicted by the local rag but I don't think the gusts got that strong) nothing seems to have diverted from BRS today.

The lunchtime Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart Air) from Cork was cancelled, apparently because of conditions at Cork - it wasn't the only cancellation from there today.

It's not had a good week so far because yesterday's flight (the last time I looked) was showing a six hour delay on the inbound which would obviously mean a similar delay on the outbound.

A general aviation flight from Valencia to CWL diverted to Bristol this afternoon due to windy conditions in Cardiff.

Sunday 29 November 2015

Despite reported gale force winds (with a fair amount of rain through the day too) the only cancellation was the EIR flight from Cork due at lunchtime. I wonder if this was more to do with conditions at Cork.

No diversions either so far.

Monday 30 November 2015

The daily EIR Cork cancelled again today - presumably still problems with the weather in Ireland. Nothing else seems to have been cancelled or diverted at BRS today despite the high winds again.

Yes you're right Yokel. It was due to crosswinds in Cork which prevented the departure from Cork

Friday 4 December 2015

Evening Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart) from Dublin and evening bmi regional from Aberdeen both cancelled today.

Bad weather in Ireland and Scotland?

Dublin Airport Flight Information is showing about 10 cancellations and numerous delays this evening, so I would suggest #Storm Desmond is causing the issues.

aye Aer Lingus have cancelled the EI3280/EI3281 rotation this morning due high crosswinds in Dublin making it out of limits for the ATRs operated by Stobart Air. Wouldn't be suprised if the EI3842/EI3843 Cork-Bristol-Cork rotation also goes the same way this afternoon thanks to our mate Des!

OK the EI3842/EI3843 Cork-Bristol-Cork is now operating Shannon-Bristol-Shannon due to the VERY strong winds currently at Cork!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
