Does anyone at LPL actually know anything about MAN's service? To see such tripe written in a PR piece is shocking.

So they won't bother using the SK services out of OSL and BGO to MAN then.

Yes, let's make out way out of/going to LPL on a train service at the airport. Oh. There isn't. And they won't bother using the SK services out of OSL and BGO to MAN then.

Yes, we'll get lots and lots of passengers who will decide that they will go that way rather than actually using the 2 daily Finnair service out of MAN.

Here's those mysterious SK flights that can't be found:

The PR looks pretty accurate to me. There is apparently a large LFC following in Norway, so this route will be ideal for that as its direct. I see no reason why passengers for the other northwest teams wouldn't use it, if the times and prices suited.

Yes it's an extra option, I didn't know about the link either. They also have a huge domestic network.

I think the important thing to remember here is as easy as Manchester is to Liverpool to get to, Liverpool is to Manchester and if airlines can get a better deal flying from Liverpool then great. Passengers from the North West will have better choice, furthermore, they will be able to fly from a smaller airport which is a bonus for so many people.

Don`t think the Helsinki once a week with a very tight outbound connection and a return where
the flight takes about 6 hours and a choice of 40 mins up motorway and 2 daily flights non stop,
doesn`t seem like win win to me as if the outbound is late you miss your connection and it`s a 24 hour wait
coming back you could always have a very expensive burger and a beer at Bergen I suppose

Oh dear..I was talking in general rather than a specific flight..but for me Liverpool is easy to get to and anything that avoids the horror of Manchester really is win win!!

What Jet2 has proved at Leeds and Easyjet has proved at Liverpool is people do want the option of flying from their local airport. Increasing numbers of people tell me they prefer not to use the larger airports because they don't like all the extra walking and hassle to go with it. Slot restraints, delays, too much hustle and bustle. In many respects large airports are a victim of their own success.

I think to be fair most of the traffic will be point to point Liverpool to Bergen or the other way around. What is good it people now have a choice and if they are Norwegians coming to Liverpool for a long weekend they can now do this direct.
The 40 mins drive from Manchester Airport to Liverpool is a bit fanciful....maybe at 3am .

I' m in Portugal now came over on easyjet to Faro and sat next to someone from Golborne who said prefers using LPL because it' s so much less hassle than larger airports.

Widerøe continues the opportunities the company's newly acquired jet aircraft allow and opens another new direct route from Bergen. In addition to the previously announced routes to Hamburg, Munich, Billund and Gothenburg starting this summer, the airline opens the route Bergen - Liverpool.

"We know that we are being well received by many football-loving Westerners. Over the years, we have had a dialogue with Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) on an airplane route to Norway, and share the pleasure that Widerøe now opens a direct route between Bergen and Liverpool. Liverpool is big at football, but the city has so much more. The city is also a mecca for history, music and shopping, says Tore Hansen, general manager of Liverpool FC Supporters Club Norway.

On the two weekly tours between Bergen and Liverpool, Widerøe will use the company's new regional jet, Embraer E190-E2 with 114 seats. The route is the only direct route to Liverpool from Scandinavia.

"We are very pleased that Scandinavia's largest regional airline chooses to create a new route between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Bergen," said John Irving, Managing Director of LJLA. The two weekly tours will give passengers from all over North England a great way to visit Bergen, as well as further access to the fjords and the popular cruise market from there. At the same time, this opens for travelers from all over Norway to visit Liverpool and the northwestern region of England through the region's fast, easy and friendlier airport, "he concluded.

I hope so too, the route has a fighting chance as the airline has been running inbound charters already.The difference now is people from UK end can also book on them.
