[offtopic]As a Bristolian would day the laptop "is doing my head in".

The lack of a proper mouse is certainly the biggest problem for me -that and the tiny keyboard - but if a laptop only takes you twice as long as a desktop, Aviador, I suggest you are doing very well.

It's really ungracious of me to complain in this way after the laptop was very kindly made available to me to use whilst visiting Dartmoor - not the prison![/offtopic]

Hi

What callsign do the Airlinair ATRs use for the Paris flights?
Are they straight from the timetable, ie AFR1573, or do they have a mix of letters and numbers?

Thanks in advance.

Yes they use AFR2173 etc and the radio call sign is Air France.

Air France has downgraded the ATR72 to a 50 seat ATR42 due to lower demand on the route, today they went out full with some flights oversold!

Not lower demand. Reallocation of AF group resource with 72 ops ex on an internal French route.

See what operates next

Was the lunchtime outbound today not a 72?

Saw an Air France Regional jet on the airfield this morning (perhaps an Embraer 190-100 LR?) - is that a permanent change?

Not according to Mayfly.

ATR42 is shown as the equipment for all flights this week and next.

The later afternoon arrival today was certainly an ATR42 - I saw it on about seven mile finals to 27 near where I live.

There has been a couple of visits from AF Regional the last week using an E175.

According to the linked report below, the 18 x weekly Air France (operated by Airlinair) service between BRS and CDG will reduce to 12 x weekly by summer 2013.

This is one of 17 AF routes to be reduced in frequency from CDG, including some to major European cities.

A test booking for next June reveals only 1 daily service though operated by an Embraer 190 instead of the ATR 42 which is currently the aircraft used. Airlinair doesn't operate E190s so presumably this will be the result of the previously announced AF regional network reorganisation.

I'm supprised by this move as the ATR is oversold on allmost every flight through the week.
But I can see operating the E195 daily would cut costs and maximise revenue.

Being aimed at the long haul connectivity out of Cdg it would seem if there is to be only one flight per day, albeit on a larger aircraft.

It's a shame as it precludes the possibility of day trips and also makes short stay holidays more expensive in that it was possible to go out early morning on, say, a Friday and return on the Monday evening, thus gaining a lot of time on the first and last days.

Now, for the same number of full days in Paris, or in the West Country for that matter, it would mean booking an extra night in a hotel.

Seems strange though because the report mentioned a reduction to 12 weekly whereas a single daily is less than that - in fact it would be 6 x weekly as there don't appear to be any Saturday flights in the booking engine for next summer.

Maybe easyJet will now look at double daily.

KLM Cityhopper

The winter timetable is showing the KL 1049/1050 (the mid-morning rotation) as an E190. The other two daily rotations remain as F70.

Next summer when the 4 x daily schedule returns all the flights are shown as F70.

This will be the first time one of the KLM services has been rostered for an E190 to BRS although the type has been seen at the airport on occasions standing in for an F70.

The E190 will be operating the KL1049/1050 from 1st December.

KLM timetable now shows the E190 operating the late afternoon rotation from/to AMS (1053/1054) during summer 13. The other three daily rotations are still shown as F70.

Previously the timetable had show all four daily rotations as F70.

Did a test booking today for Summer'13 to AMS and the 2nd morning and late afternoon departures are both operated by E190's.

So first and last flights are operated by F70's and the other 2 flights by E190's.

AMS certainly seems well covered with easyJet 10 x weekly as well.

The further upgrade on KLM to AMS might be due in part to the reduction in Air France services to CDG this coming summer - reduced from up to 3 x daily ATR 42 services (Airlinair) to E190 (Regional) 6 x weekly (no Sats).

I checked the Air France booking site and they include numerous connections from BRS to CDG via AMS with KLM as well as the AF flight. The via AMS route to CDG isn't likely to be popular - several hours long with the connection and expensive.

I wondered whether easyJet might increase its CDG frequency because the single daily AF rotation isn't going to encourage short leisure breaks as it's no longer possible to go out in the morning with AF and return in the evening a few days later. easyJet seems to remain at 1 x daily next summer.

picked up a relation from bristol last night. he told me klm going all E190 service from the start of w2013. looked around but can find nothing to confirm. if true will be good news. it will be an increase on seats from w2012. service will still be 3 a day.

I think I've read somewhere that they're phasing out the Fokker 100s (maybe even in their own in-flight magazine?), so not sure if it means anything one way or another.

Also saw that they will start charging hoi polloi for checking in luggage on intra-European flights from April or so.

The winter 2013/2014 KLM booking site is showing all three daily rotations on BRS-AMS as E190.

The current winter has one of the the three daily rotations as an E190 with summer 2013 increasing to two out of the four daily rotations as E190.

I believe that you are correct on both assertions. In fact, I think the F100 may have already been phased out operationally. A small number was being used as replacements for unavailable F70s at one time.

As far as I'm aware Cityhopper now operates E190s and F70s only. From checking web sites it seems they have 22 E190s with no more currently on order and 26 F70s for operational use - there appears to be a 27th used for the Dutch Royal Family and Government.

The F70s are relatively elderly now and no replacement has so far been announced. Some believe the F70s may be refurbished.

BRS must be considered a decent operation to go all E190 considering there are still more F70s in the fleet than E190s.

I've flown in F70s and F100s several times, mainly Cityhopper, and I like the aircraft. BRS will still see an F 100 with Helvetic to Zurich.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
