A shame that it won't be returning this summer but I'm sure it will be back in the not so distant future. I think it will more likely return as OS rather than EW as it fared better when it changed to Austrian Airlines and load factors were much better. I imagine a number of factors have forced Austrian to rethink their network this summer and focus on more leisure oriented routes. I suppose they are hoping to feed passengers through LH / LX / SN this summer until demand returns.

I half caught the same conversation, but couldn't make out the airline mentioned. It may just be a short term winter sports programme at weekends possibly?.

it's been reported that Austrian are dropping their Manchester-Vienna flights for this winter and summer 2026, due to them getting rid of the E190s, so the smallest aircraft in their fleet will be the A320, so I think that now pretty much rules out them returning back to Birmingham in the next few years.

If AUA will have only the A320, VIE becomes almost useless as a transfer point. Many routes in Serbia/Croatia and further afield in South Eastern Europe, only survive thanks to the E190s. It suggests that the airline is heading in the same direction as Alitalia.
