Cardiff Airport turns festive this Christmas Jumper DayView attachment 15627 Save the Children’s eighth annual Christmas Jumper Day is taking place on Friday 13th December, and on Wednesday 11th December pilots and team members at Cardiff Airport ditched their day-to-day dress and donned their daftest, most wonderful woollies for the annual fundraiser.
Visitors using the national Airport for Wales were treated to all sorts of festive fun on the day, including choir performances and even a visit from the big man himself, Father Christmas. Eastern Airways pilots did away with the usual uniform and flew between Cardiff and Anglesey, proudly wearing their Christmas Jumpers in support of children all over the world.
Angela Summers, Terminal Operations Manager at Cardiff Airport said, ‘We love supporting Christmas Jumper Day at Cardiff Airport. It’s fantastic to see teams across all areas of the business getting involved and wearing their festive jumpers, all in aid of a great cause.’
Roger Hage, Eastern Airways’ General Manager, Commercial and Operations, added, “Eastern Airways is delighted to support Cardiff Airport for such a good and very worthwhile cause.”
Since its launch in 2012, Christmas Jumper Day has raised a whopping £21million to help the charity build a better future for children in Wales and around the world.
Louise Davies, Head of Save the Children in Wales added:
“During our centenary year this is a fantastic way to support children here in Wales and around the world. Thank you so much to Cardiff Airport for helping to make sure every child, no matter where they are in the world, has essentials like healthcare, education, protection, and food and water. Every jumper really can save lives. Together, we can support children to learn, grow and become who they want to be, because they are the future.”
It’s the most magical time of year – fairy lights and snowmen, baubles and Christmas trees, and on 13th December you’ll see them all – on our jumpers. Save the Children is expecting over 5 million people across the UK to take part in the biggest, silliest Christmas Jumper Day yet – and donate £2 a jumper to help children in desperate need around the world.
This year Save the Children are encouraging people to get creative and upcycle Christmas jumpers. They are encouraging schools to hold jumper swaps and have also launched a recyclable bag that people can request online and use to donate old jumpers. Along with Save the Children charity shops selling second-hand jumpers across the UK, Save the Children are also one of ASOS Marketplace’s official charity boutique partners, selling a selection of vintage Christmas jumpers on the online fashion platform, ahead of the big day.
