Blue Islands kick-starts flights from Birmingham from 26 April 2021

Blue Islands will gear up flights to Jersey from 26th April following the Government of Jersey’s announcement concerning the relaxation of travel restrictions for UK visitors.

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said, “Today’s announcement is incredibly exciting, this is the news we have all been waiting for and provides assurance for consumers who are eager to travel. The easing of travel restrictions and aligning with the UK Common Travel Area means that the beautiful island of Jersey is open and ready to safely welcome guests once again.

“This will be an amazing opportunity to visit a beautiful and safe island, so close to home. Whether you are looking for a short break or a longer holiday, a trip to Jersey will feel a world away this summer. We are working closely with Visit Jersey to ensure that Jersey as a visitor destination will be more appealing than ever.”

From 26th April, the airline will kick-start services from Birmingham with schedules sustainably increasing to meet demand.

Rob added, “We know how important flexibility is right now, for peace of mind we have free upgrades to allow changes to be made for any reason up to three hours before departure so everyone can book with confidence.

“We can’t wait to welcome our customers on board again, where of course our enhanced wellbeing measures will continue.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport commented: “It is great to see the resumption of services from our airline partners. With easy access to Jersey with Blue Islands from the 26th April this means our customers can book with confidence with a reputable airline but also with the knowledge of the easing of travel restrictions to this Common Travel area. We look forward to welcoming back Blue Islands’ customers.”

All services are now available to book at www.blueislands.com.

This happens quite frequently and is very annoying. MAN-EXT has SI169 & SI1169. I've no idea why.

Could one potentially be a charter for a sport's team? The other a scheduled flight?

No Jerry I don't think that's the reason. I presume it's a system glitch with the way the data is processed. Maybe Blue Islands had planned with one or other flight number and never cancelled the one not being used?

They have cancelled BHX for the winter but kept EMA as there is no competition from easyJet there.

Unfortunately this is the downside of having low cost airlines, a 2 weekly Airbus probably offers the same capacity as a 4 weekly ATR, but the number of days on which you can actually fly is drastically reduced.

Blimey I can remember we have always had a good service to Jersey going back to the daily Vanguard
So does this now mean we only have a weekly EasyJet? I think originally it was Sat & Mon but Monday was dropped ??
Unfortunately this is the down side of a big airline & big aircraft on a little route

Thankfully EZY from BHX-JER is bookable 2x weekly from now until Sept'25

Blue Islands must have good reasons to drop a winter service.
The Jersey route has seen a big decline since the heyday period of late '70's and early '80's, when up to 20 rotations occurred at weekends in peak summer period.
However, holiday traffic to the Channel Islands has fallen away considerably since, possibly due to the expense, and greater availability of budget destinations abroad.
There is always a demand for business people to fly out to Jersey though, and year round.
Let's hope they return next Spring.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
