Further to marni's post, MAG has also designated Pier 3 as the new home of MAN's A380 stands. This takes advantage of the additional manoeuvring space available between Pier 3 and Pier C. The road layout in that space has also been redesigned to accommodate the change, so it appears to be a solution for the long term. Whilst I haven't seen final confirmation, my expectation is that the Pier 4 shown in the early plans will never be constructed.

Another shot by 'our friend' apparently showing the Airport Entrance.

Looking at the pier 4 situation, Personally I would demolish T1 in its entirety, as it is no longer fit for purpose, extend T2 to connect with T3, build pier 4, perhaps room for a pier 5, and refit T3 extending it to create a kind of pier 6. Would that be feasible? I'm no expert, but to my untrained eye, that would make sense.

In an ideal world MAG would do as you suggest. They've certainly been considering concepts along those lines. T1 is not only time-expired, it is also constructed too far south on the airport campus which means very limited apron space available between its frontage and 23R/05L. A new structure set much further back resolves this. But the problem is cost. Refurbishing the existing T1 piers is much cheaper than the new-build option, and no-frills carriers don't require a new luxury facility. I fear that MAN may have to 'make do' with the less-ambitious development, not only due to its innate cost but also because MAG has redevelopment commitments to fund at STN and EMA as well.

As per the MANTP twitter Q&A today, the M56 link bridge and it seems the MSCP extension is now deferred to a later phase.

New MSCP opens April.

Thanks as always Scottie.

Regarding the T2X "glass facade" photo.... really? We were under the impression it would be a cheaper solid wall with windows set into it, not a glazed curtain wall. Anyone shed any light? Obviously this would be great news.

Will the car park have some form of cladding added to the metal - or is that the finish?

My first visit to the airport for a couple of months and so here are my own photos and any comments that I feel may help:

Is this really the Link Corridor? I ask because there is no sign of a travelator, which I believe was to be installed. Where ever it is there appears to be a considerable walk involved.

In Planetalk 59 there was a photo which was the same view but captioned "Pier finishes on-going" which infers this is likely the section within the pier iteslf.

I suspect this is the arrivals level judging by the windows.
There are no travelators on the departure level within the pier, so i suspect that they didn't feel the need for them on either level of the pier iteself.

Hopefully the photo is from the far end of the pier, as it looks like it could be a long boring walk back to the main link for the travelators.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
