Virgin Atlantic

Good news for Edinburgh. I expect that the shift from Glasgow to Edinburgh is too make it a more appealing route for inbound Americans via Delta Airlines with Edinburgh no doubt being a more preferred holiday destination for Americans than Glasgow. Before the pandemic Delta launched Orlando to Amsterdam for the same reason.

The first flight to BGI left EDI yesterday just 15 min late.
Business class was full. I am willing to bet most these seat would be travel agents, going on a free trip.
I had read the load was 20/20/50 out of 33/48/185 seats.

It not been well advertised. I only new about this through the Edi forum
I tried a business class booking on Thursday last week and it came up full.
Agree looking at the other class on board and they were plenty of seats.

I believe there may have been a positioning crew on board to operate straight back to LHR after its EDI rotation. VS are very short crewed right now so may not have had enough to overnight at BGI. If there was a positioning crew, they would have travelled in J hence the ‘full’ cabin.

I’ve read from Twitter that the Virgin route to Barbados is being cut this Winter and passengers will be booked onto the Manchester flights instead

VS starting to make some savage cuts to frequency on various routes. EDI-MCO appears to survive for now but will not re-start until around 21st June 2023.

S23

Although the operating season length has been slashed, VS have upgraded the aircraft to be used. An A351 replaces the A333. A nice little upgrade particularly in upper class. The current seat maps indicate upper class is already solidly booked for the season.

It’s not an upgrade in Upper Class. The high density A350s have fewer seats in Upper than the A333. The aircraft swap is intended to cater for higher Economy demand from Manchester. Whether that will help or hinder the EDI route I have no idea.

An upgrade in terms of the upper class cabin is what I meant. It’s also an “upgrade” in terms of seats available and general comfort in economy class. The VS A333 is dated and cramped. What I don’t have much confidence in is VS sticking with EDI. I wouldn’t be shocked if they pulled the route in the weeks ahead.

Sky Team

VS is joining the Sky Team alliance from March. Could be good news for EDI. Lots more codeshare opportunities, primarily with AF and KLM. I doubt we will see any additional VS routes from EDI.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
