In fairness I'd say both Liverpool and Donny showed that it's possible to look good quality whilst still being a regional airport terminal. Even more so the more recent planned new terminal at LBA. Sadly this is clearly on a much lower budget.
I thought that new terminal design was nice. The current build is plan B though, and you can tell. It's not worth complaining about, we've waited too long to see the airport grow. When phase 2 is constructed with a new check-in hall they can build out to create a new terminal front at that point.

No just wishful thinking but on the east side of the new build.
As the reasoning behind the two phases of LBA regen is to separate departing and arriving passengers, with no crossover within the terminal, they are not going to create any new check in to the east of the new build as doing so would completely undo what they are now seeking to achieve. In any case, the plan seems to be that they will resurrect Project Sky (new terminal) post 2030 if they need to expand further, rather than make any further extension to the existing terminal .

I seem to recall that the extension currently being built, was modelled along similar lines to Glasgow Airport. As I've never been there, I couldn't comment on whether that's good or bad, but obviously Leeds City Council Plans Panel were happy enough to approve it, back in the short period of time when they actually seemed to support the airport.

Has the internal reconfiguration (Phase 2) been confirmed? If so, does anyone have a schematic they could upload? (Apologies if this has previously been done)
Yes. It starts in February 2025.

I don't give 2 hoots what it looks like as long as it works. Look at Moscow, bloody awful! View attachment 31378
On one hand you mention Moscow looks awful, but presumably it works.

Why can't something be bothered functional and good to look at? Why was it achievable at Liverpool and Donny...

Yes the improvement is much needed, but as always Leeds (the city) gets the "it'll do" solution.

Personally I thought DSA looked nothing special. Like everything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

In Donnys case…its full of moths, spiders, rats and flys…but yes it does look nice.

I agree in my opinion it makes the terminal look alot bigger, twice the size in fact.
From above it adds around a third to the surface area. The high elevation of the new building makes it look larger from a landside perspective. The curvature of the old1960s building makes the landside view of that section appear smaller.

I've got to admit, I know it's not in any of the plans, but I do wish they could get shut of the B hall tent structure now.

according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your kind donation to our running costs Jenny.
I've done 2 minibus tours with Mountain Goat this week. Monday was North York Moors with over 600 photos and today High Adventure in the Lakes with 750. photos. Slightly snap happy.
I've asked Gareth Southgate for the winning lottery numbers. He said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
