If the council approve the CLEUD applications the airport should follow it up immediately with a reasonable set of measures to reduce the impact of night flying such as encouraging only the quietest and newest aircraft to use the airport. If the airport shows it can self regulate it will make future planning applications easier. If the airport doesn't self regulate properly it will risk further restrictions being inforced such as passenger limits the next time a 106 planning agreement is made.

Indeed it does, but at present we have a situation where Jet2 dont want to use them at LBA, nor is that likely to change much until the terminal is sorted and better able to cope with a regular influx of 220+ seat aircraft, Ryanair dont have enough MAXs to go around all their bases, and have delays with the delivery of their new orders, and Wizz will have 45 of their NEOs grounded due to the engine issues. So for now, it's going to be a gradual process of increasing the percentage of flights operated by quieter aircraft.

We should all be "fans" of quieter aircraft lol. Aircraft noise is nowhere near as bad as some would believe and certainly not as bad as what goes on on many roads - aviation just seems to be the scapegoat. I think we have to be mighty thankful of where we are now compared to 2 or 3 years ago during the pandemic. What an amazing recovery it has been

Best direct that at the Contractors. They are the ones now that determine when they can start. It's a big job, needing a big workforce, and a lot of materials and equipment. Such things are not just sitting there in the background waiting to move in. The site staff need to either be recruited or finish whatever they're currently working on, and the construction materials could only be ordered once the contract was signed. Such items as steelwork, and especially HVAC equipment can be on quite long delivery times.

I'm sure LBA want it starting now as much as we do but the lead in time for any large construction scheme can be many weeks if not months. We've been told Autumn, so let's hope that it's underway in the next few weeks.

Just read elsewhere that the Car park & site compound are now fully fenced off whilst Subscan are on site this morning doing there survey's

Also reportedly that the contractors site cabins will be delivered to site within the few weeks with ground works expected to start early in the new year.

ls27 is referring to our star (the Sun), not the newspaper. 21/22 Dec is the winter solstice (shortest day and longest night) and is the start of Winter.

Technically it started as soon as the contractor began screening off the compound. It's all billable, so all part of the contract. Installation of site cabins etc. is also part of the project.

I have already pointed out that building work cannot commence until all the materials are available for delivery and in any case, there's plenty to do before then.

It's better to focus on when it finishes rather than when the building structure starts rising from the ground.

No, the 3 floors in total are the size of 1.5 football pitches, but just under 3,200sq mtrs or 34,000 sq feet per floor is pretty big.

On the basis on the 102,000 sq ft over three levels we should be looking at something about the size of this which is a 35,000 sq ft floor of a warehouse. A decent size for an arrivals hall with departures above.
