London Luton Airport (LLA) has been named as the UK’s best airport by readers of the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller magazine.

The Readers’ Choice Awards launched in 1998 and are regarded as one of the most prestigious and coveted awards in the travel industry, providing readers with an opportunity to celebrate the world’s best hotels, resorts, countries, cities, islands, airlines, airports and cruises. Nominations are marked on various criteria, including service, food and atmosphere, with more than 240,000 people worldwide sharing their experiences.

Having held the second-place spot for the last three years, LLA secured the first-place spot with a score of 80.78 out of 100, ahead of previous winner, London City Airport.

The publication of the 2023 survey comes as LLA has also been named as a finalist in the 2023 UK Customer Experience Awards (CXA) for the third year running, in recognition of its commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to passengers.

Having welcomed more than 15 million passengers in the past 12 months, LLA has continued to deliver a strong operational performance, with four out of five passengers rating their experience at the airport as ‘very good or excellent’. *

A further £30m is being invested to further improve the passenger experience including a new 500 seat mezzanine restaurant and the latest security screening technology.

Neil Thompson, Operations Director at LLA, commented: “Our ongoing investment in the London Luton Airport terminal underlines our commitment to providing first-class facilities and even greater choice for our passengers, and this recognition is testament to the committed and service-led approach of our team. The Condé Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Awards are based entirely on passenger feedback, with airports scored across a range of criteria including service levels, atmosphere and food. We are therefore thrilled to be named as the number one UK airport for 2023.”

Alberto Martin, Chief Executive of LLA, commented: “Condé Nast Traveller is firmly established as one of the world’s most highly regarded travel magazines and we are delighted that our team’s focus on delivering a simple, friendly passenger experience, along with the strategic investments that have been made in London Luton Airport, has been recognised by such a discerning readership.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
