Hi all,

This is to let you know that issues have been found with the dark styles of the forums (thanks @Aviador for flagging this)

This is also a notification to let you know the following styles will be removed from the site:
  • F4A Classic
  • F4A Classic Dark
It might be a case that the newer style F4A Dark might have to be temporarily disabled while I figure out what's gone wrong. In the future only one style will be available, this will be purely known as F4A. For those wanting a darker style mode, this will be set by device settings as detailed by XenForo or will be able to be manually selected in an upcoming update. There is however no fixed date for this update to happen at this time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks!

I will try my best to get the dark style sorted as soon as I can. As for the complex layout, can you clarify a bit more please? It was up for some time in BETA, yet nobody mentioned anything back then? The newer layout isn't too much different from the newer one, it just contains a bit more information and is a lot more responsive.

In the meantime you can view the forum in darkmode one of the following ways.

On Windows 11

From your Start menu, navigate to Settings > Personalisation. Select Colors followed by Choose your mode. You can choose between Light, Dark, or Custom. If you select Custom, you'll have the option to choose one default Windows mode and a different default app mode.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Appearance in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Select Light, Dark or Auto on the right.

Using a phone darkmode is also available through your in phone settings.

If I set it to F4A (light or dark), I get 4 columns across the page, listing the airport forums which to me looks cluttered. In classic style, I get a single neat column of airport forums down the left hand side of the page.

Is there a way to do this in earlier versions of Windows? Choices from Start Menu are different.

I don't think so as its only newer versions of windows (Windows 8 and above I believe) that'll support dark mode settings. As for the layout, it was felt that the newer layout was a bit more visual, rather than just a text list of forums with lots of blank space. Layouts are likely to change again in the future but right now they should be well organised.

wow I don't what changes you have made Ashley, but the white advertising banner i have had on the bottom of my screen over the last year, blocking the bottom part of the forum, that i have to click on to keep removing it, is now no longer appearing!!! thank you (y) :D

I'm not aware of making any changes to the advertisement placements, just the coding that should remove them for subscribers, I suspect Google has changed the way the adverts are placed or displayed again as this was discussed in length with @Aviador

Hi all,

Just to say that I believe I have now restored a proper version of the dark style. I will be upgrading the site to XF 2.3 but now with a working dark style base, it should hopefully make things a bit easier for when I perform the upgrade!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
