I would have thought that with the extra 100 miles in distance (compared to LBA) the NCL route should be reasonably viable - more so even than MAN where BMi are competing on a much shorter distance. However, I am not sure what aircraft BA now use on this route. In the olden times when I was a lass, it was just a Trident (which originally was operated by BKS/Northeast), but I do remember at one time it had moved up to a 757, which seems a bit on the large size these days. Again I suppose it will all depend on profit versus the demand for slots. Personally I would have thought the route would suit an A319 .

I agree with your comments, i dont think BA could sustain a daily rotation on a 757 due to its size, but a A319, B737, E170...etc any of those type sized would suffice i believe.

A shame really that the smaller regional UK airports cannot sustain a link to their own capital.

[textarea]BA help celebrate Newcastle Airport birthday with £1 fare

British Airways is helping travellers celebrate the 75th birthday of Newcastle Airport with a special return fare on its flights between Newcastle and Heathrow. The airline is offering a return flight to Heathrow for just £1 (subject to availability) which, with taxes/fees and charges means that the total paid by passengers will be £75.

The special promotional return fare, which is available from both Newcastle and Heathrow, will remain on sale until Sunday (August 1) in order to coincide with an open day at Newcastle Airport to commemorate the event. Those booking flights using the special fare will be able to travel between November 1 - 30.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
