You say…they are reliable but all break at the same time…well that means they are not reliableWhy what's happened now?
They are reliable and work. You need to look at the amount of flights they need to do during the summer months versus how many they go "tech" on.
That % will be high indicating they are not such a problem child. The trouble is they seem to all break all at the same time. And their ops team seem to be quick and experienced and ensuring the fall out is minimised or not even felt.
You'll be delighted to know that G-GDFL is busted too now. Gone tech at Prague. You say…they are reliable but all break at the same time…well that means they are not reliableG-GDFM is still sitting at FAO losing revenue.
With all these jet2 737 300s going tech one has to question the overall safety of these aircraft! What technical problems are occuring with these aircraft or is it a real mix bag of issues? One of the disadvantages of being a Leeds Bradford Jet2 punter is the increased likelihood of your flight being delayed, especially if you're going to Gerona, Jersey, Prague, Palma, Faro and so on. In other words, any route routinely serviced by a 737-300. Something passengers at other Jet2 bases are less exposed to. It's hardly fair is it? It still amazes me that this fleet remains in service given its glaringly obvious lousy reliability and that Jet2 had the perfect opportunity to bin the fleet off after the corona virus pandemic.
If safety was an issue, they wouldn't be flying. And Jet2 would probably get rid, as they did with G-CELI after decompression incidents. With all these jet2 737 300s going tech one has to question the overall safety of these aircraft! We all know GDFO has been very troublesome. If safety was an issue, they wouldn't be flying. And Jet2 would probably get rid, as they did with G-CELI after decompression incidents.
Fairly sure FL was towed into the hangar on Monday afternoon, then back out half an hour later but whether there's a connection, who knows.
There are 7 of these 300s here at Leeds though, and it would be interesting to know if there are certain aircraft that are more troublesome than the others.
Literally busted. You'll be delighted to know that G-GDFL is busted too now. Gone tech at Prague.
I think that's the issue. I wouldn't be worried about flying on a 300 and in general I think their unreliability individually is somewhat exaggerated. The 800s dont get the same level of attention. The problem is that with 7 x 300s at LBA there's a fair chance of at least one having some sort of issue, whether technical or just unfortunate. The fact they are so heavily utilised on some really busy routes means that each time this happens, LBA passengers can suffer delays and disruption.Literally busted.
It needs a new tyre. That can happen to any aircraft, and unfortunately it’s happened to a 300!!
FM had a generator issue. I flew an 800 with the same issue the other week.
I think the 300s are more notable when they go tech because there are all in one base and mostly doing 3 rotations a day, so have a higher knock on effect. A tech 800 would just be swapped for a spare and go unnoticed.
My sentiments exactly. From the golden child to the b*****d step-child!I think that's the issue. It's disappointing that for now, Jet2's home base has the oldest fleet age of any and customers here have to watch all the new aircraft go to the likes of MAN, STN, BHX and EDI. Obviously, the 300s won't be around for more than a year or two, and I will miss them when their gone but it does feel that LBA is currently being short changed by Jet2 in terms of equipment. I think we all know why, and it makes sense given the maintenance facilities here, but that doesn't relieve the feeling that the base that helped create Jet2 as a successful airline is now well down the pecking order.
We will always end up with the dross from elsewhere while all the new Airbus go elsewhere. When they finally go what will replace them? 800s released from other bases as more A321Ns are delivered, or will Jet2 give up on some of the routes they serve?
