B737-800 G-JZDH departed of to EMA this morning for paint. It should be getting the red/grey Jet2.com livery.
By the looks of the fleet plan and the subsequent eventual Airbus transition, G-JZDH theoretically should be the last EIS we see at LBA…

Only the fleet acquisition team will know any different, but the way I see it unless they find a steal on the second hand market I don’t see anymore 800’s coming online and that will therefore bring an end to EIS work at LBA.

So the rumour mill went into complete overdrive for nothing. However given the traction long haul got one has to wonder if a) it is now something they are at least willing to talk about and b) if actually someone on the board has these accounts to send the rumour mill into overdrive to see what gets most traction. Any which way you look at it its brilliant marketing getting their name spoke about, has given the company something to look at (I believe at one point they shut down social media comments) and talk about and well ...

As for the last entry 737-800 one would imagine so however strange things have happened. With A321's moving in, they replace the B737-800's and therefore able to displace them to places such as Liverpool, Bournemouth, Leeds for the eventual 300 replacement.

In Leeds could one see, in conjunction with the terminal, A321 replace B737-800 which will replace B737-300 in turn.

What is interesting is the investor relation which says all lease aircraft will be gone by 2027? 2026?. What happens to that lost capacity in MAN with the loss of A330.

I can't help thinking that with the anti tourist problems in places like Majorca and others that the sunshine beach type holiday to Spain, Portugal, etc might indicate that this is changing and future growth to places like Palma will stagnate. Hence the likes of Jet2 Holidays may have to consider new further afield places for instance Egypt, The Gambia, Florida, Mexico.
So perhaps some Long Haul destinations might be considered from most Jet2 bases using new A321LR equipment sometime in the near future. Just a thought!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
